Questions & Answers
It’s very important that all the Bernedoodle breeders and businesses connected to us raise healthy and happy puppies. That’s why we have the Bernedoodle Breeder Pledge in place. This Breeder Pledge has 47 important standards that all Bernedoodle breeders and businesses must follow in order to be part of our network.
You’ll get listed for free on Uptown Puppies provided you’re a Bernedoodle breeder that complies with all 47 standards mentioned on our Breeder Pledge. Once you qualify you can proudly display our 5 Star Breeder Badge on your site, and we’ll even create your own Breeder Profile, giving you the ability to connect with tons of puppy-loving-families out there.
Bernedoodles are really popular dogs these days, meaning there’s bound to be a Bernedoodle breeder, business, or company in your area, or close by. Just look on Uptown, choose the Bernedoodle puppy that melts your heart, and you’ll be put in touch with its breeder or business, and it’ll soon be sent your way!
If, by any chance, you’re unable to locate a Bernedoodle breeder, business or company near you, you’ll still be able to get a Bernedoodle puppy from one of the many Bernedoodle breeders and businesses located in the U.S. that are part of Uptown Puppies. Choose a pup, and it’ll be sent to you by plane. It’ll either be available for pick up at your nearest major airport, or will be sent to your home for an extra charge.
There are many Bernedoodle breeders, businesses and companies that apply to be part of Uptown Puppies network, but only 10% of them actually make it through our strict filtering system. If they can’t comply with all 47 points on our Breeder Pledge they’re out, and they also need to have quite a lot of experience before we just let them sell their puppies to you!
Bernedoodle puppies are really in demand these days, so when you see one on Uptown Puppies, you need to move really fast. Once you’ve chosen yours, we’ll let the Bernedoodle breeder or business know, and it’ll soon make its way into your loving arms and generous heart. Your whole family will be so happy!
One of the big reasons Bernedoodle breeders started creating this breed was to create Bernese Mountain Dogs that were hypoallergenic. Bernese Mountain Dogs on their own aren’t hypoallergenic animals, however, once mixed with Poodle genes they became Bernedoodles which don’t shed much and are mostly hypoallergenic.
The first Bernedoodle breeder was a lady called Sherry Rupke who still breeds Bernedoodles today. Bernedoodles started their journey in life in Ontario, Canada in the early 2000s. However, their parent breeds, the Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle originally come from Switzerland, and Germany and France respectively.
Ask any Bernedoodle breeder, business or company, and they’ll tell you that a Bernedoodle is a hybrid breed or designer dog created from Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles. They’re playful and affectionate dogs that enjoy spending time with their human families. They’re also really intelligent due to their Poodle genes.
Your Bernedoodle breeder or business will tell you to brush your Bernedoodle every day, in the direction of its coat growth, and wash your puppy with dog shampoo every 6 to 8 weeks unless it gets dirtier sooner. Brush your puppy’s teeth at least 3 times a week, and clip its nails every 5 weeks.
Ask your Bernedoodle breeder, business or company, and they’ll tell you that Bernedoodles are pretty smart animals due to their Poodle genes. They enjoy training, and are keen to learn new exercises. Start training after the age of 8 weeks, at least once a week, and reinforce good behavior with warm praise and treats.
Bernedoodle breeders and businesses will tell you to take your Bernedoodle out to play and walk for at least 60 minutes a day. This can be divided up into 3 segments of 20 minutes each, 2 segments of 30 minutes, or one long 60 minute walk if you have the time. You should also take your Bernedoodle to the park on weekends to run around and play to exercise its muscles.
