Questions & Answers
With our extensive network, finding a reputable Doberman breeder near you isn’t too difficult. No matter where you are in the country, we can help you find a breeder nearby, or at least someone who can arrange to have your puppy sent to an airport near you. Uptown screens all the breeders it works with so all you need to worry about is finding your dream pup!
A happy and healthy puppy starts with finding the right breeder. Uptown Puppies works only with Doberman breeders that meet the 47 standards detailed in our Breeder Pledge. This comprehensive pledge ensures ethical breeding practices, humane treatment, and responsible placement of the puppies with families all over the country.
Qualified Doberman breeders can join Uptown for free! Start by reading our Pledge. If you believe that you meet all the 47 points on the pledge, then apply. Once approved, you can display our Five-Star Breeder Badge on your own website. We will also build your Breeder Profile on Uptown so you can be found by the families looking for honest breeders!
Start by browsing our selection of available puppies. Then talk to the Doberman breeder with the puppy that you like. The next step is arranging the transport details -- your chosen breeder will help you with this! And you’re done. Now it’s time to stock up on toys and treats because your puppy will be home soon.
After deciding on which puppy to bring home, the Doberman breeder that you’re working with will present you with the different transport options and help you make the arrangements. Keep in mind that different Doberman breeders will offer you different options. The most popular way to get your puppy is by picking it up at a major airport near you (except in Alaska or Hawaii).
While it’s exciting to visit a Doberman breeder in person to choose a puppy, we know that this isn’t possible for everyone. We create the Uptown network as a safe place for people to search for Doberman breeders online. Because we screen all the breeders we work with, you won’t have to worry about scams and puppy mills.
Dobermans are popular dogs and puppies quickly find new families. So if you come across the puppy that you absolutely have to take home, contact the Doberman breeder right away to make a reservation. If you miss your chance, you could be waiting for months before the new litters are born.
We believe that it’s your right to know where your dog comes from -- especially if you want a purpose-bred dog. The Doberman breeders that we work with share the same views. These honest businesses are more than happy to share with you the health history and breeding records of their puppies so you can have some peace of mind.
Not really. This was never the goal of our network anyway. What the Doberman breeders on Uptown offer is exceptional service that begins with impeccable breeding standards, transparent health records, and their full support until the day your puppy is home with you. These businesses are committed to helping you find the right puppy for your family.
We only work with Doberman breeders that truly care about the dogs in their care. All the puppies that you’ll find on Uptown undergo nose-to-tail health checks in which the pup’s eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, skin, fur, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems are thoroughly examined. That said, we still recommend that you take your puppy to your preferred vet to verify its health after arriving at your home.
The Doberman Pinscher started as a hybrid, with the Rottweiler in the mix, in the 1800s. Even though its name is often misspelled as Dobberman, Doverman, or Doberman Pincher, the breed remains unmistakable thanks to its athletic stance and intimidating appearance. Today, Dobermans are known not only for being tough, but also for being loyal and loving companions to all kinds of families.
Dobermans are active dogs that need plenty of physical and mental stimulation, especially as puppies. They may not be the best breed for novice owners or busy people because you need to invest time in training a Doberman puppy. Contrary to what most people believe, Dobermans make fantastic family dogs -- they love being around people!
