Who is PuppySpot, really?

puppyspot reviews

According to PuppySpot: “PuppySpot is the best place to discover, learn about and find a puppy.”

At first glance, PuppySpot appears to be a nationwide network of dog breeders. PuppySpot offers dozens of breeds, from the popular to the obscure.

One of the things that sets PuppySpot apart from other breeder networks is their bold “PuppySpot promise.” The promise ensures that:

  • Their breeders are vetted in various partnerships
  • Their puppies receive industry-leading 10-year health guarantees
  • Their puppies are transported via PuppySpot’s private travel network for maximum comfort and safety

But are these claims true? How safe is it to buy a puppy from PuppySpot? Where does PuppySpot get their puppies? Where is PuppySpot located? Are there many PuppySpot complaints? And should YOU buy a puppy from PuppySpot?

We at Uptown Puppies had the same questions. Let’s settle the question once and for all—how does PuppySpot work, and is PuppySpot reputable?

Can we trust PuppySpot? Here’s a quick fact check.

Let’s look at the evidence. Why should families trust PuppySpot to provide their new best friend? Here are some of the reasons PuppySpot offers.

Claim—PuppySpot’s “No Puppy Mill Promise”

puppyspot reviews

Finding the perfect puppy starts with a happy home, which is why PuppySpot only works with responsible breeders, screened and vetted by their compliance team. And what is PuppySpot doing about the puppy mill epidemic?

PuppySpot has a zero-tolerance policy for puppy mills or substandard breeding of any kind. A "puppy mill" is an illegitimate source of puppies that places profit above the welfare of animals. Puppy mills need to be shut down. Period.

Verdict — TRUE

This is a huge deal. Any breeder who claims to be for shutting down puppy mills should be applauded. There’s nothing worse than thinking you’ve found your perfect puppy, only to realize later that they require expensive vet visits due to genetic illness as a result of improper breeding.

Great news for anyone wondering if “PuppySpot puppy mill” was fact or fiction.

Claim—The “best health guarantee in the industry”

PuppySpot offers an incredible health guarantee—possibly the best in the industry—that covers congenital or hereditary conditions which adversely affect your puppy’s health.

Verdict — TRUE

PuppySpot’s 10-year health guarantee truly is industry leading. Most breeders and breeder networks don’t even come close.

Claim—Tons of puppy options nationwide

PuppySpot is paradise for any dog lover with just about any breed you can imagine. And if you need help deciding which breed is right for you, you’re just a call away!

Verdict — TRUE

PuppySpot really does offer tons of different breeds. When we called to verify the availability of several different breeds, PuppySpot had available litters for each breed that we checked.

The only negative is that PuppySpot’s litters go FAST, so dogs that get posted may be scooped up within hours.

Claim—PuppySpot’s “private travel network”

PuppySpot’s private travel network ensures your new pup arrives home healthy and safe. PuppySpot’s breeder network can arrange travel for your puppy to any major airport in the Continental US.

Verdict — TRUE

With buyers and breeders spread out around the US, we were concerned about how PuppySpot would solve the transportation issue.

Luckily, PuppySpot has really solved the logistics of running a nationwide puppy network—customers report their puppies arriving safely and healthy by plane, ground, or chaperone travel arrangements.

Claim—AKC collaboration

PuppySpot is authorized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) to provide each puppy parent (you) with a special AKC registration package, fully paid for by PuppySpot.

PuppySpot is committed to responsible breeder and pet ownership, which is why all puppies are eligible for companion registration on the appropriate registry. PuppySpot puppies are meant as companions or pets, and are not for breeding or showing.

Verdict — TRUE

We really like this. PuppySpot is clear from the start what they’re all about—uniting families with amazing companion dogs. Their collaboration with the AKC is a nice little added touch for new families.

Claim—Industry leading standards

puppyspot reviews

PuppySpot spends millions of dollars on a rigorous, proprietary compliance and screening program which screens their breeders for standards that go significantly above and beyond state and federal regulations.

PuppySpot claims that their enhanced screening process is the strictest in the country and includes more than 100 points of emphasis for every puppy and its parents.

Less than 10 percent of the breeder partners who enter the review process are accepted into PuppySpot’s network.

Verdict — TRUE

PuppySpot understands the importance of trust when it comes to running an online breeder network.

The fact is that PuppySpot could sell tons and tons more dogs than they are right now if they accepted more breeder partners (they are one of the top breeder networks in the country, after all).

But PuppySpot believes in quality over quantity, and it’s clear that to PuppySpot reputation is important.

Is PuppySpot Uptown Approved?

puppyspot reviews

First of all, what does “Uptown Approved” mean and why should you care?

Businesses and breeders who wear the Uptown Puppies Badge of Approval are legally bound by our Breeder Pledge to uphold the highest standards of dog breeding excellence—meaning clean facilities, proper healthcare, humane breeding standards and much more.

Uptown Puppies is dedicated to supporting only the best breeders and networks on the planet, and our Badge of Approval means that we trust those breeders to uphold the same high standards that we do.

So, is PuppySpot legitimate?

Yes. PuppySpot is our top recommended dog company.

When you’re looking for a healthy, happy puppy from a breeder with integrity, you really can’t go wrong with PuppySpot.

Verdict...is PuppySpot a puppy mill or not?

puppyspot reviews

Based on our research, we believe PuppySpot is NOT a puppy mill. We trust PuppySpot because they have a history of delivering exceptional dogs and exceptional service.

Here are some of the factors that influenced our decision:

  1. Less than 10% of the breeders who begin the PuppySpot review process are accepted.
  2. Reviews on PuppySpot from happy customers are extensive
  3. PuppySpot follows up with new families throughout the puppy process to make sure their puppy is happy and healthy
  4. Like us, PuppySpot uses a breeder checklist and pledge to screen out bad breeders
  5. PuppySpot offers an industry-leading health guarantee

PuppySpot is a community of dog lovers who make lives better by placing healthy puppies into happy homes.

PuppySpot’s extensive network of dog breeders spans the entire country and offers pretty much any breed you can imagine, from purebred favorites like Golden Retrievers and Dachshunds to amazing designer dogs like Labradoodles and Goldendoodles.

PuppySpot is a reputable breeder network—and one of the most trusted members of the Uptown Puppies Network.

PuppySpot Ratings & Reviews

May 28, 2019

"I was given instant updates of puppy status when searching through an advisor, then when found out the one we wanted was gone- she let us know all the relatives of that one. When finally decided, was given photos through interim of shipping and receiving her. Even upon arrival, she was clean, happy and amazing. It costed a lot for her, and I had doubts but when we got to hold her, no price could amount to the joy she brought."
