About Great Danes
Both the biggest living dog and the biggest dog EVER are Great Danes. These gentle giants are incredibly sweet with children (but they might scare away a few strangers with their bark). Some families consider the Great Dane to be the ultimate family pet, period.
Loyal and Loving
Great Danes are famous for their loving, loyal personalities—just ask Shaggy what he thought of Scooby Doo.
Gentle and Kind
Despite their size, Great Danes are fantastically friendly and get along with people of all ages—even strangers.
The Great Dane’s size is part of its appeal. There’s just something endearing about that big ol’ face greeting you every morning!
Easy to Groom
Great Danes are a cinch to groom, despite their tendency to shed. If you’re busy and don’t have time for constant brushing, this is the dog for you!
Easy to Train
Great Danes are avid students and always love to please their owner with new tricks (as long as you have plenty of yummy treats).
Fun for the Whole Family
Great Danes are incredible, friendly family dogs that make fast friends with children and adults alike.

Your typical online dog search goes like this: you type in something on Google, and then you see a list of different breeders and websites. The problem is that these breeders are being ranked based on how well they market their business—not based on how good they are. We only list the BEST businesses and breeders, bottom line.
Countless families who look for the cheapest Great Dane for sale possible will end up bringing home a dog from a puppy mill. Poorly bred and raised, these puppies are notorious for developing genetic illnesses, suffering from behavioral problems, and costing their owners thousands in vet fees that could have been avoided by choosing a properly bred dog.
No two Great Danes look exactly the same, and it never hurts to have options. That’s why the Uptown Network is so powerful. With the ability to connect with tons of breeders and businesses across the country, you can look for the exact type of dog you want without being hassled by unscrupulous breeders or puppy mills.
Great Danes were once bred to hunt wild boars—which are quite intelligent and ferocious. The original Great Dane was equally ferocious, but that trait was slowly bred out of the breed, leaving us with the cuddly, affectionate, calm and gentle giants we see today. Just about the only part of the original breed is their massive size!
Great Danes are huge dogs, and can reach weights close to 180 pounds and stand at roughly 30 inches tall. Great Danes come from Germany, and are sometimes called “The Apollo of Dogs.” The average Great Dane is fairly healthy, but suffers from conditions you’d expect from large dogs. Their average lifespan is between 8-10 years.
