Aussiedoodles are a hybrid of the Australian Shepherd and the Poodle. They are highly intelligent, loyal, and energetic dogs with a fun-loving personality. They come in a variety of coat colors and patterns, so no two Aussiedoodles look alike! Aussiedoodles also have strong herding instincts and love to play and get exercise. They also make great family-friendly pets as they are good with kids, and get along with both cats and other dogs. Furthermore, they are strong swimmers and great jumpers.
Aussiedoodles are often listed as being a hypoallergenic breed, however, this doesn't always mean you won't likely suffer any symptoms from having one. While their coats are typically soft and low-shedding, their allergies are still created by other allergens on their fur, such as saliva and urine. Even so, having an Aussiedoodle in the home can generally reduce allergy symptoms as long as you are cleaning up fur and dander on a regular basis.
Aussiedoodles are known for being an incredibly smart and active breed of dog. As such, they need to be fed a high-quality diet that is tailored to their specific needs. Generally speaking, your Aussiedoodle should be fed an age-appropriate, premium-quality, protein-rich dog food with a high percentage of meat as the first ingredient. Look for foods that are specifically formulated for dogs with higher activity levels. When choosing a food, look for one that is both age and weight appropriate.
Aussiedoodle's do have a few special requirements that should be met, such as having regular veterinary check-ups, proper grooming, and staying up-to-date on their vaccinations. Additionally, they are known to require a lot of exercise, as they are quite active dogs. Aussiedoodles can range dramatically in size, depending on the parents. With a Toy Poodle parent, their size can varying from 14-17 inches and weighing between 10-25 pounds. If bred with a Miniature Australian Shepherd parent, they may be a bit larger, typically 17-20 inches in height and 25-30 pounds in weight. With a Standard Poodle parent, Aussiedoodles can reach heights of 18-23 inches and weights of 40-65 pounds. It really comes down to the individual pup, and even within a litter there can be huge variations.
The amount of walking that your Aussiedoodle requires daily depends on several factors, such as their age, health, and breed. Generally, daily walks can range from 10 minutes to 2 hours. If your Aussiedoodle is a puppy, then it's best to only do short walks of 10 to 15 minutes a couple of times a day, as puppies may over-exert themselves and become tired easily.
