They boast a unique look often having the tri-color head of an Australian Shepherd with the white/cream fur of the Poodle. Aussiedoodles also have a very lowto non-shedding coat which makes them excellent family pets, as they are ideal for indoor living as well as capable of tolerating outdoor play.
Aussiedoodles are considered non-shedding dogs because they are a hybrid breed. This means they are crossed between two purebred breeds, an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, which are both known for their hypoallergenic coats. Many Aussiedoodle owners report that their pups have a much lighter shedding coat than their purebred counterparts due to the combination of genes from each of the parent breeds.
Aussiedoodles should not be fed anything with sugar, red dye, alcohol, onion, raisins, macadamia nuts, grapes, chocolate, caffeine, raw eggs, raw meat, garlic, or mixed nuts, as all of these can be toxic and/or cause digestive distress. Additionally, large bones, rawhide, popcorn, dough, and cooked bones need to be avoided, as these can create blockages, splinter, or injure the dog's throat.
