Aussiedoodles are a hybrid of two different purebred dog lines Australian Shepherd and Poodle. They are classified as a designer breed, often referred to as mixed-breed dogs. These friendly dogs have an outgoing personality, similar to the herding breeds, and many of them have a heavy coat of soft, curly hair. Aussiedoodles come in a variety of sizes, ranging from Toy and Miniature to Standard and Maxi, so these dogs can fit into any size home. They are highly intelligent and loyal family pets, eager to please and easy to train.
Aussiedoodles are generally considered to be hypoallergenic dogs. While no breed of dog is completely free from the possibility of triggering an allergic response, the Aussiedoodle's wavy to curly coat is composed of a mix of shedding and nonshedding, low-dander fur which typically leads to fewer allergies and allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. As an added benefit, the Aussiedoodle's coat does not require professional grooming and frequent bathing to stay healthy and free of mats and tangles.
Aussiedoodles, like all breeds, have specific dietary needs that should be adhered to for optimal health. Generally, you should avoid feeding them processed foods and fatty table scraps. Additionally, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, chives, macadamia nuts, and chocolate can all be toxic for Aussiedoodles. It's important to keep in mind that a diet that is high in fat and protein can lead to weight gain, so Aussiedoodles should not be provided with an abundance of these sorts of food.
Aussiedoodles have some special requirements, but in general they are quite adaptable and the same basic care needed for any other pet will suffice. Remember to take into account the temperature, as canines can struggle with the heat.
