Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are an incredibly intelligent, loyal, and good-natured hybrid breed that make excellent family pets. They are a combination of the Australian Shepherd and the Poodle which makes them a unique mix of two highly intelligent families. Some fun facts about Aussiedoodles include that they have a lovely silky, low-shedding coat that often feels waxy to the touch with a wave-like curl pattern.
Aussiedoodles are generally hypoallergenic, so they likely won't cause people to experience allergies. However, this doesn't guarantee that all individuals won't react to the breed. Depending on a person's sensitivities, they may or may not be prone to allergies when in contact with an Aussiedoodle. It's possible that some people may only experience mild sneezing or watery eyes, while more serious cases may cause difficulty breathing.
Aussiedoodles should not be fed anything containing a high amount of fat, sugar, or salt. Foods that are high in fat include beef, pork, and salmon. Additionally, we would advise against feeding these dogs chocolate, grapes, raisins, avocados, and any amount of alcohol. These ingredients can create an unpleasant digestive experience, and in some cases, can be poisonous. Be sure to double-check the labels of human food products, as they often have hidden sugars, salts, and fats.
Preparing for your new Aussiedoodle may take some effort, but it'll be worth it once your new pup arrives! The first step is to provide a safe environment for your pup. Make sure any potentially hazardous items, such as cleaning supplies, are safely put away. You'll also want to get the necessary supplies, such as food, treats, a leash, a collar, and a few toys. Then, you can begin setting up a schedule for potty training, exercise, and play time. Establish clear rules and boundaries and make sure everyone in the household follows them.
Aussiedoodle sizes vary depending on the parent breeds, however, on average, Aussiedoodles typically weigh 40-60 pounds and reach 18-22 inches in height. Therefore, Aussiedoodles can be considered relatively large when compared to other dog breeds. But when comparing them to some of the larger breeds such as the Great Dane or Newfoundland, they are considered medium-sized. However, the size of an Aussiedoodle should not be the only factor in deciding whether or not this breed is suitable for your situation.
Aussiedoodles are very active dogs with an abundance of energy. With their outgoing personality and desire to please, they are the perfect choice for an active, high-energy family or individual. Though they can be lower energy depending on the traits from the parent breeds, in general they are intelligent, and agile, and need plenty of physical exercise, mental stimulation, and socialization. Aussiedoodles are happiest when given the opportunity to run, play, and get lots of attention from their owner.
Aussiedoodles are an excellent breed for first-time owners to consider. With their loving, loyal nature and low-shedding coat, an Aussiedoodle is a great choice for households of all sizes and lifestyles. They are eager to please their owners, which makes them highly trainable and a great fit for novice owners who may have never owned a dog before. Aussiedoodles are intelligent and lively dogs, often friendly with other dogs and people. Their cheerful energy makes them perfect playmates for children, but they need plenty of mental and physical stimulation.
Training an Aussiedoodle requires patience, dedication, and lots of positive reinforcement. The first step is to socialize your Aussiedoodle with other dogs and people starting with supervised play dates as a puppy and gradually introducing more challenging situations as they mature. Consistent structure is important; create a routine for potty training, proper behavior and responding to cues. Incorporate basic obedience commands like "sit", "down", "stay", and "come" so your Aussiedoodle knows how to behave.
