Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are known for being incredibly intelligent and loving companions, but what many may not know is that they also carry a wide range of strengths and abilities. Aussiedoodle pups are often bred with two different working dogs, which gives them a special combination of intelligence and intuition. They tend to be alert and active, often picking up on changes in their environment and responding accordingly. As such, they can be great guard dogs and, with the right training, can even be trained for service and agility work.
The Aussiedoodle's coat is a beautiful combination of both an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle. It is usually soft and fluffy with a wavy texture. The coat may come in many colors, from black to cream, and solid and merle markings are common. Double-coated, they tend to be low-to-non-shedding thanks to the Poodle genes. However, their coat does require regular grooming and regular brushing to maintain its health, especially during molting season when their coat changes.
Aussiedoodles are typically energetic and active dogs that should not be fed certain types of food. Typical foods that should be avoided for Aussiedoodles include human food such as chocolates, grapes, raisins, garlic, and other toxic foods, as well as bones that could splinter and cause intestinal obstruction. High fat foods, including bacon, raw fish or pork fat, are also a no-go. Vegetables such as uncooked or undercooked green beans, garlic, onions, or chives could cause digestive problems for your Aussiedoodle.
Yes, Aussiedoodle breeds do have some special requirements that need to be met. These pups need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation in order to maintain their health and happiness. It's important to spend time playing with and training your Aussiedoodle, both indoors and outdoors. To keep their coats looking their best, Aussiedoodles will need to be groomed on a regular basis. They also require a healthy diet to ensure that their nutritional needs are met.
Aussiedoodles vary in size depending on which generation they are: F1 (first generation) Aussiedoodles are 50/50 mixes of a Poodle and an Australian Shepherd, so they usually range between 45 65 pounds and 18 23 inches in height. F1b Aussiedoodles are 75% Poodle and 25% Australian Shepherd resulting in a smaller size: 30 45 pounds and 17 21 inches in height.
Aussiedoodles are a highly active breed of dog that requires plenty of exercise. They are loyal and intelligent dogs, which can make them great companions and excellent working dogs. Aussiedoodles need to have dedicated owners who can provide plenty of outdoor activities and time to play. This is important for good canine mental and physical health. Aussiedoodles love to go for long walks, runs or hikes, and they are also good swimmers, making them ideal summertime companions. These dogs are very social and need lots of interaction from both their canine friends and their owners.
Aussiedoodles can make great companions for first-time owners! These dogs are easy to train and generally have a calm, friendly temperament. However, like any dog, they need to be trained with patience and guidance. As with any pet, their owners should be committed to providing them with a loving home that includes plenty of exercise, food, and affection. Aussiedoodles are also considered to be relatively low-maintenance, making them ideal for first-time owners looking for a more laid-back canine companion.
Training an Aussiedoodle requires patience, repetition, and reward-based positive reinforcement. Start off by teaching basic obedience commands like "sit" and "stay". Continue to practice the same commands with your Aussiedoodle on a regular basis. It is important to use consistent verbal cues each time. As they master the commands, reward the pup with treats and praise. Additionally, you should also work on commands like "drop it", "walk gently", and "come" (if off-leash).
