They are a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, known as a “designer hybrid” because of their intelligence and low to non-shedding coats. Some fun facts about Aussiedoodles include that they are considered to be a “high energy” breed, so they need an owner who can keep up with them. They are also extremely smart and easily trainable.
Aussiedoodles can be described as largely non-shedding due to the combination of their poodle parent's curly coat and the Australian Shepherd's shedding-resistant coat. As a result, the coat of the Aussiedoodle sheds very little compared to regular poodles. The combination of the two breeds in the Aussiedoodle inherits the hypo-allergenic coat and the low-shedding qualities of the poodle and the shedding resistance of the Australian Shepherd.
