Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are a hybrid of two very popular breeds the Australian Shepherd and the Poodle. They are generally known for their intelligence, loyalty, and active nature. Aussiedoodles often do well with children, have a low to non-shedding coat, and come in many colors and sizes. They are generally easy to train, but may be prone to barking. As with any breed, they need regular exercise and interactive playtime to stay healthy and happy.
Aussiedoodles can be considered hypoallergenic to some degree due to their low-shedding coat. Though the term is misleading in a sense, because no breed is truly hypoallergenic. Aussiedoodles’ coats have a unique combination of traits found in both their parent breeds, the Australian Shepherd and the Poodle. These dogs have a low-shedding coat that produces fewer allergens and is easy to maintain with regular brushing.
Aussiedoodles are generally medium-sized dogs that thrive on a diet of high-quality protein. Their diet should also include complex carbohydrates, essential fatty acids, and other essential nutrients in order to maintain their health. Aussiedoodles should be fed two to three times a day and their meals should contain a combination of wet food and dry kibble formulated for their size, age, and activity level.
Preparing your home for a new Aussiedoodle is an exciting task! First, make sure you have the necessary dog-proofing items, such as a pet gate and secure fences. Consider installing a doggie door for easy access and to avoid messes inside the house. Also, purchase all the necessary supplies, such as a collar, a leash, a bed, toys, and food. Puppy-proof the home by securing electrical cords, stashing away any small objects or items that may pose a choking hazard, and remove any poisonous plants.
Generally speaking, Aussiedoodles are considered to have medium to large size, and can reach around 13-20 inches in height and 20-50 pounds in weight when they are full grown. It is important to note, however, that Aussiedoodles can range in size depending on the type of breed used to create them and their gender. Generally, male Aussiedoodles tend to be a bit bigger than their female counterparts, and are therefore more likely to be considered as larger dogs.
Absolutely! Aussiedoodles are known to be quite active and enjoy the exercise of a good run. Taking them jogging, or on brisk walks, is a great way to keep them fit and allow them to burn off all their energy. Make sure to keep them on a leash during the run to help keep them safe and under control, and also keep an eye out for other animals, cars, or anything else that may be a distraction or danger.
Aussiedoodles generally get along very well with other pets and take delight in making new animal friends. They are extremely social and tend to have a natural affinity for animals of all shapes and sizes. Anything from a hamster to a horse will often become the Aussiedoodle's best pal. They are incredibly gentle and loving towards other animals and they tend to make friends quickly. Proper socialization and training from a young age is important to ensure good behavior around other animals, but in most cases, interaction is brought about with ease.
Aussiedoodles need at least 15 minutes of activity each day to stay happy and healthy. This doesn't have to come in one block; it can be broken up throughout the day, as long as the total amount of physical activity adds up to 15 minutes or more. Exercise time can involve activities such as playing fetch, teaching your pup new tricks, or going for a walk. All activity is important, as it helps give your Aussiedoodle the physical and mental exercise they need to stay healthy.
