Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are an affectionate and outgoing breed of dog that make terrific family pets. They are a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, and while they tend to display the best traits of both breeds, they cannot be predicted to have the same look or temperament of either parent. These intelligent dogs require plenty of physical and mental stimulation and benefit greatly from obedience training. They are adaptable and can live in small spaces as long as they get plenty of excercise.
Aussiedoodles can be seen as hypoallergenic, since they are a hybrid breed of Australian Shepherd and Poodle—both of which are known for having low dander, low shedding coats. Even though they do have fur, their coats usually remain free of dander and allergens, making them a great choice for those with allergies. It is important to note, however, that although certain breeds such as the Aussiedoodle can be considered hypoallergenic, no breed of dog is truly "allergy-free.
Aussiedoodles should not be fed food that is not specifically designed for dogs. Human food or table scraps should never be given in place of dog food because it may contain ingredients that can be harmful to dogs, such as onions, garlic, and chocolate. Many human foods, such as chocolate, coffee, alcohol, and sugar, can cause serious health problems for dogs. Additionally, while bones are often safe for other dog breeds, they are particularly risky for Aussiedoodles because of their small size and stomachs.
Becoming the best possible puppy parent for your Aussiedoodle can be a rewarding experience for both of you. To ensure your puppy grows into a confident, well-socialized adult, it’s important to provide consistent, positive training and socialization opportunities from an early age. Good nutrition and regular physical activity are also key components of responsible puppy parenting. Additionally, establishing a daily routine with your dog can help them feel safe and secure. Finally, endowing your Aussiedoodle with plenty of love, affection and mental stimulation will help ensure a happy, healthy pup.
Aussiedoodles can vary in size depending on the combination of the parent breeds. Most Aussiedoodles will grow to be between 12 and 22 inches tall, weighing between 25 and 60 pounds. While smaller sizes do exist, the average Aussiedoodle will reach this size when fully matured. The length of their coat can also affect the size, as their coats tend to be longer than the combined sizes of their parent breeds. Generally, Aussiedoodles have the same height-to-length ratio as an Australian Shepherd or a Poodle.
Aussiedoodles enjoy a variety of activities, and swimming is not an exception! With their athletically built bodies and energetic personalities, your Aussiedoodle will definitely take to the water if given the chance. Swimming is an excellent form of exercise and is beneficial both physically and mentally, making it an ideal pastime activity for these pups.
Aussiedoodles are a great option for families who want an energetic, intelligent, and affectionate companion. With their famously friendly personalities, these hypoallergenic dogs make wonderful additions to households of all sizes, and they typically get along well with both adults and children. Aussiedoodles are highly trainable and very eager to please, making them an ideal choice for first-time dog owners. They also enjoy a variety of activities, such as swimming, playing fetch, or even taking an extended walk.
Training an Aussiedoodle requires commitment and patience. Start by ensuring that they are housebroken and understand basic commands such as sit, stay, and come. Once they have these basics down, you can then advance to teaching them more complex commands such as fetching a toy or rolling over. Utilize positive reinforcement by rewarding them with treats when they do something well. Set the tone for training them by being consistent and patient – never scold or punish them as this will only set them back in their progress.
