Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are a designer breed, a hybrid between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle. This vibrant, loyal, and intelligent hybrid combines the best of both its parent breeds the intelligence of a poodle with the agility of an Australian Shepherd. They range in size from 12 to 30 inches in height and 15 to 70 pounds in weight. Aussiedoodles are low to no-shedders, making them a great option for people with allergies, but they do need regular grooming. They also need plenty of activity and attention, as they are very social dogs.
The Aussiedoodle coat is typically soft and fluffy, resembling an Australian Shepherd's coat. Though the coats can vary greatly in length, color, and texture, they generally maintain a merle pattern and present colors like red, black, blue, and white. Aussiedoodle coats are both hypoallergenic and easily maintained with regular brushing, though they will require occasional baths and more frequent grooming depending on the length and texture of the coat. Many owners also opt to have their Aussiedoodle's coat professionally groomed for a more definite look.
Aussiedoodles have unique dietary needs, and finding the best dog food for them can be tricky. Ultimately, your goal should be to find a formula that is high in proteins and low in carbohydrates, with added healthy fats for energy. Look for food made with whole ingredients, like real meat, vegetables, and fruit. Not only should the food contain whole ingredients, but look for a brand that has little to no artificial ingredients or by-products.
Preparing your home for your new Aussiedoodle will be an exciting time! To ensure your pup feels comfortable and happy in your home, there are a number of steps you should take. First, create a safe and secure play area. This should include toys and enough space for playtime. Additionally, make sure you provide them with a good bed and blankets to provide warmth and comfort when they're not playing. Furthermore, preparing a space for your pup to go to the bathroom is important.
Aussiedoodles can vary in size depending on the breeds that are included in the mix. Generally, Aussiedoodles are considered medium-sized to large dogs; they typically weigh anywhere from 25-85 pounds and can reach heights of 17-24". Though they tend to be slightly smaller than other large breeds such as Shepherds or Labradors, Aussiedoodles can still stand tall and make great companions for active households.
The amount of walking required by an Aussiedoodle depends on its age, energy level, and any underlying health conditions. Generally speaking, however, it is recommended that an Aussiedoodle receive at least 30 minutes of interactive, physical activity each day. If your Aussiedoodle is younger than one year old, then take short walks on the leash several times a day. Gradually increase walking time as your pup matures.
Aussiedoodles typically have pleasant and friendly dispositions, so they tend to get along well with kids. With proper socialization (introducing them to new people, places, and experiences from an early age) these pups can become fantastic companions to children. They are smart and eager to please; with reward-based training, they can learn basic commands, tricks, and simple house rules. Their size also means that they require minimal exercise, so they can spend plenty of time engaging in activities with kids, such as playing catch, hide-and-seek, and fetch.
Aussiedoodle training requires time and dedication to ensure they develop into well-mannered and obedient dogs. When it comes to how many minutes per day for Aussiedoodle training, the amount of time required can vary. Generally, it is recommended to give an Aussiedoodle at least 10 to 20 minutes of structured training each day, and may require longer time for activities such as teaching basic commands or taking part in obedience classes. In addition to their daily training, interactive activities like walks and playtime will help build and maintain the bond between you and your dog.
