Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are undoubtedly one of the more unique and interesting breeds out there! Not only do they have an excellent temperament, but they also come with a one of a kind coat and signature look. Aussiedoodles' coats can range from very long and wavy to short and curly. Their colorings can range from black, white, gray, and even sable. Although most Aussiedoodles enjoy swimming and playing fetch, they also appreciate a good cuddle session. They are a great companion for someone who loves spending quality time with their pup.
Aussiedoodles, a hybrid of a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, are generally considered to be a non-shedding breed. Their coats are more likely to resemble a Poodle's, curly and thick, or somewhere in between the two breeds in texture, but they require grooming to ensure their coats remain distinguished and untangled. While they are generally considered non-shedding, it is important to note that all dogs will shed, regardless of their coat type and breed.
It's always best to consult your veterinarian to determine an ideal diet for your Aussiedoodle. However, generally speaking, you should avoid giving your Aussiedoodle table scraps, chocolate, alcohol, fish, and dairy products. Also avoid anything processed as it can contain substandard ingredients such as high levels of sugar, salt, and fat that are not ideal for your Aussiedoodle's diet and can lead to unforeseen health issues. Additionally, giving your Aussiedoodle bones can be a choking hazard and have a negative effect on their digestion, so it's best to avoid.
Preparing for a new Aussiedoodle is an exciting but daunting task. Before the pup arrives in their forever home, it’s important to get the house ready with the necessary supplies, such as food bowls, a bed and plenty of chew toys. Consult your veterinarian for the appropriate supplies and vaccinations to keep the pup healthy and safe. Next, establish a consistent routine with your pup from day one. This should include regular walks, ample playtime, and routine vet visits.
Aussiedoodles, a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, are generally considered small to medium-sized dogs. Depending on the size and generation of the Poodle it is bred with, mature Aussiedoodles usually range from 14 to 24 inches in height and between 15 to 40 pounds in weight. The average Aussiedoodle is said to reach a maximum size of around 30 pounds. However, like most crossbreeds, there is always the possibility of larger or smaller specimens than those mentioned.
Aussiedoodles can get plenty of exercise with about a half hour of walking per day. Keeping your pet active with regular walks is important for their physical and mental health. Some of the benefits of walking your pet include improved digestion, a stronger immune system, and better behavior. Walking your Aussiedoodle should include a brisk walk lasting between 15 to 30 minutes, taken at least twice a day in the morning and in the evening. Keep walks varied with different routes and a potty break during the day can be beneficial as well.
Aussiedoodles are known to be great with kids when they are properly socialized. They are active and loving family dogs, often forming strong bonds with the children in the household. They have gentle demeanors and usually enjoy playing games. Aussiedoodles actively seek attention from their owners, and they can become very attached to their children. They are also very intelligent, so they learn quickly, making them easy to train. In addition, most Aussiedoodles are not aggressive towards people or other animals, which makes them good for families with multiple children.
Training an Aussiedoodle can be relatively easy depending on the individual dog and the amount of dedication you are willing to put into the effort. Every pup is different, but Aussiedoodles have a tendency to be particularly trainable because of their intelligence and loyal nature. When properly socialized, they can quickly learn commands with regular practice and positive reinforcement using treats, toys, and verbal praise. The best way to ensure your dog is as easy to train as possible is to be consistent and patient and to develop a reliable habit of training with them.
