Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, used to create a loving, energetic, confident, and intelligent designer breed. They are highly intelligent and easily trained, making them an ideal companion for families. They love to be around people of all ages and they are very affectionate.
Managing allergies with Aussiedoodles depends on how severe the allergy is and what the allergen is. To minimize reactions, it's important to keep the environment free of allergen sources such as dust, pollen and pet dander. When grooming your Aussiedoodle, use a damp cloth to wipe down their fur to limit buildup of allergens. If your allergies are severe and a hypoallergenic breed isn't enough, consider adopting an older Aussiedoodle who has already shed their puppy coat, as those coats often contain higher amounts of allergens.
Aussiedoodles thrive on a diet of high-quality, protein-rich dog food with plenty of natural ingredients, limited grains and low sodium levels. One of the best foods for your Aussiedoodle is a premium quality brand that includes an optimal amount of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids. When formulating a food for your Aussiedoodle, look for one with meat based proteins such as lamb or chicken, NO fillers such as corn, wheat, beet pulp or soy, and NO artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.
Preparing for a new Aussiedoodle is critical to ensure that your pup has a safe and successful transition into its new home. Start by researching the breed and familiarizing yourself with their specific needs, such as diet, exercise requirements, and grooming habits. Put together a checklist of essential items, such as a kennel, food and water dishes, leash and collar, treats, toys, and cleaning supplies. Gather information about local veterinarians and look into pet insurance policies.
Aussiedoodles come in a variety of sizes that range from toy, mini, and standard. Generally, a toy Aussiedoodle will weigh in at roughly 15 20 pounds and stand up to 14 inches tall, at the shoulder. Mini Aussiedoodles fluctuate between 20 – 30 lbs and range from 14-16 inches, and a standard Aussiedoodle can range from 30 – 44+ lbs depending on parents’ size, and can reach heights between 18-24 inches.
Absolutely! Aussiedoodles are quite active dogs and typically love to go on runs with their owners. That said, it's important to properly prepare your pup for the outing. Aussiedoodles will need to be crate trained and should be leash and obedience trained prior to going out on a run. You should always bring plenty of water for both you and your pup, as well as shovels and doggie bags for waste removal. Start slow and gradually build up the distance and intensity of your runs together, making sure to take frequent breaks.
Aussiedoodles establish wonderful relationships with children. These social and friendly dogs love being around people, particularly children, and they often become an integral part of the family. With the right socialization and training, Aussiedoodles can learn to behave well and interact in positive ways with children. They express their love for their family members through their undying loyalty, unconditional affection, and entertaining love of play. Aussiedoodles can be confident, outgoing, and full of life while playing with young children, and they can easily become a child's best friend.
Training an Aussiedoodle can be challenging but rewarding! They are an intelligent and energetic breed, so dedication to consistency and positive reinforcement will be important for successful training. Start with teaching basic commands such as 'come', 'sit', and 'stay' as puppies, as this will help lay the groundwork for more complex activities. Socializing your Aussiedoodle at an early age is also important, as this helps them to have a better understanding of acceptable behaviors.
