Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are a fun breed of dog, with many interesting traits! They are a hybrid mix of an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle that are friendly, loving, and gentle with their owners. They are extremely intelligent and learn commands quickly. They also possess great energy levels and can easily accompany you on all your outdoor activities. Moreover, Aussiedoodles are also hypoallergenic making them excellent companions for those people who suffer from allergies.
Aussiedoodles are considered to be a low-shedding breed and, depending on the type of fur they have, they might not shed at all. Although the exact amount of shedding varies from one dog to another, generally speaking their fur is very easy to manage. That said, due to their combination of poodle and Australian shepherd genetics, they do have an advantage when it comes to shedding as the poodle helps add to the hypoallergenic properties of the breed.
Aussiedoodles enjoy a variety of different food items depending on their age and activity level. Generally, the best diet for an Aussiedoodle is high-quality dry kibble specially formulated for large breed puppies. Supplementary food items such as lean cooked meats, fruits, vegetables, and dairy products are also beneficial, but should be fed in moderation to avoid health issues. Additionally, small amounts of low sodium canned food like fish, chicken, and beef can be added to the diet, as well as treats such as small pieces of raw fruit or vegetables.
While Aussiedoodles may not have any special requirements in comparison to other breeds, they do have needs that must be met in order to ensure their optimal health and wellbeing. They need regular exercise and quality nutrition; as with all dogs, they need routine vet care and regular grooming; they may require regular training; and they need lots of love and attention from their owners. Most importantly, these dogs need an indoor environment with a secure and safe outdoor space. They thirst for companionship and need plenty of quality time with their owners to stay healthy and happy.
Aussiedoodles vary in size, depending on the size of the parents. Generally, their size falls in the medium-small range, and their weight typically ranges between 18-30 pounds. So, while Aussiedoodles are not considered to be small dogs compared to toy breeds, they tend to be considered 'on the smaller side' when compared to many other dog breeds. Additionally, Aussiedoodles typically have a lot of energy and need regular exercise, which might be more easily accomplished by owners of smaller dogs compared to larger breeds.
Aussiedoodles are an active and intelligent breed that require a significant amount of physical and mental exercise every day. Depending on age and activity level, walks should be provided twice a day as well as an opportunity for supervised playtime. Puppies need between two to four hours of exercise and older dogs can handle more. This type of dog may need additional mental stimulation in the form of obedience and agility classes, as well as activities like hide-and-seek, fetch and interactive toys.
Aussiedoodles are a phenomenal breed when it comes to children and families. They are known for being incredibly intelligent and eager to please, which makes them incredible companions. They're also great protectors, making them a perfect fit for families with young children. Aussiedoodles enjoy spending time with their family, love playing, and usually pick up training quickly. As long as the Aussiedoodle is exposed to people, especially children, on a regular basis and is properly socialized, they'll likely develop a strong bond with the family.
Training an Aussiedoodle takes patience, consistency, and a positive attitude. Start by introducing basic commands such as 'sit', 'stay', and 'come'. Once they have mastered these commands, you can move onto more advanced commands such as 'down' and 'heel'. Use positive reinforcement to reward them for completing the commands successfully and provide verbal praise after each successful lesson. Be creative with the rewards; not every reward needs to be a treat. Try incorporating some play time or a special toy for a job well done.
