Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are an incredibly unique dog breed. They are known for their intelligence and loyalty, but one of the most interesting things is their hybrid nature. Aussiedoodles are not a purebred, but rather a mix of an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, giving them a unique combination of traits from both breeds. This makes them highly intelligent, and even-tempered, making them an excellent choice for active families or those looking for a pet with lots of personality.
Aussiedoodles are often considered to be a hypoallergenic dog breed because they are a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle. However, it is important to note that no dog is 100% hypoallergenic. While many people who suffered from allergies are able to tolerate the presence of an Aussiedoodle, allergies can still be triggered or worsen in some cases and each individual's reaction can vary from person to person.
Aussiedoodles are intelligent, active, and very food-motivated dogs, so providing them with a healthy and nutritious diet is essential. Unfortunately, they are not able to digest certain human foods like onions, garlic, grapes/raisins, and avocado. These foods can be toxic for Aussiedoodles and should be avoided. Additionally, fatty table scraps can cause gastrointestinal upset, so it is best to avoid giving your Aussiedoodle these kinds of treats, too.
Preparing for a new Aussiedoodle can be a fun and exciting process. First, think about setting up a space in your home that is just for your pup. Make sure it is safe and comfortable and meets all of their needs. Create a schedule for feeding, potty breaks, and walks. Set rules and guidelines for sanitation and obedience training, and start researching types of toys, chews, and treats that are safe and healthy. Try to find a local breeder or even an adoption center that you can make purchases from.
Aussiedoodles come in a variety of sizes depending on the type of Aussiedoodle. Generally their sizes range from miniature Aussiedoodles that are approximately 14-17 inches at the shoulder and weigh 15-30 pounds to standard Aussiedoodles that are usually 18-23 inches at the shoulder and weigh 40-65 pounds. With hybridized breeds you also have what is referred to as a "toy" and "teacup" Aussiedoodle, which are usually 13-14 inches and weigh 10-15 pounds.
Aussiedoodles require daily exercise to stay fit and healthy, and walking is one of the best activities you can do with them. The amount of time you should spend walking your Aussiedoodle each day depends on their age and energy level. Generally, it is recommended to give an adult Aussiedoodle 30-45 minutes of exercise per day, while puppies should be walked for about 15 minutes. If your Aussiedoodle is very active, you may need to plan additional time for walking, as well as other activities like playing fetch and swimming.
Aussiedoodles are generally good with kids, due to their inherent intelligence, loyal, and loving nature. Their naturally friendly demeanor and moderate energy level make them ideal for households with children of all ages. Aussiedoodles thrive in environments with children, and will not only serve as an entertaining and devoted companion, but also provide an eager teaching opportunity for kids as they take part in socialization, training and veterinary care.
The exact amount of minutes you need to train your Aussiedoodle each day will vary depending on the age and energy level of your pup. Generally speaking, however, Aussiedoodles respond well to consistent and short training sessions that last between 10-20 minutes each day. During each session, focus on teaching your pup one to two commands and practice them until they are mastered. Aim to gradually increase the length of each training session over time in order to provide your pup with a challenging and rewarding learning experience.
