Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are an intelligent and active hybrid breed, making them an incredibly fun furry friend! They are a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, but vary depending on the Poodle's size. Due to their intelligence, Aussiedoodles are easy and often enjoyable to train, and are not too difficult for first-time dog owners.
Aussiedoodles can indeed be considered non-shedding dogs, as their unique coats are a combination of two hypoallergenic fur types. Aussiedoodles possess the low-shedding fur of its Australian Shepherd parent and the curly coat of its Poodle parent, making it an ideal companion for families looking for a pet that produces very minimal shedding. When it comes to maintenance, grooming and clipping are recommended to keep Aussiedoodle coats soft and tangle-free.
Aussiedoodle's are a mixed breed, so it's important to consider both the parent breeds when feeding. Australian Shepherds are active and require a high-protein, calorie-rich diet full of essential fatty acids to keep their energy levels up. Poodles are smart and sensitive, so their diet should be highly digestible and free of fillers and artificial additives. Feeding your Aussiedoodle a commercial dry food that is high in quality proteins and healthy carbohydrates is an excellent choice. A quality diet should also include fresh vegetables, fruits, and other whole foods.
Before getting an Aussiedoodle, you should make sure you have all the essential items ready. A first-time pet owner should have crates or kennels, bedding, a collar and harness, a leash, food and water dishes, food, grooming products such as a brush, a comb, and nail clippers, a first aid kit, and toys. Aussiedoodles need plenty of exercise, so you should also invest in things that they could use for exercise such as a leash for walks and an outdoor play area.
The size of your Aussiedoodle puppy will depend on the size of its parents. Aussiedoodles are a mix of an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, usually Toy or Miniature, and can range in size from 8 to 20 inches tall and can weigh between 20 to 65 pounds. Generally, Aussiedoodles bred from aToy or Miniature Poodle will be around 10-15 inches tall and weigh between 15-30 pounds, while those bred from a Standard Poodle will be around 20 inches in height and range from 40 to 65 pounds in weight.
Aussiedoodles need plenty of exercise to stay both physically and mentally healthy. They benefit from a combination of vigorous activity and mental stimulation. Generally, 45 minutes to an hour of daily exercise makes up a good routine for Aussiedoodles this can include running, walking, fetching, swimming, and agility training. Exercise intensity should depend on age and health of the dog. It's also important to make sure that your Aussiedoodle gets mental stimulation in addition to physical activity.
Aussiedoodles, or Australian Shepherd-Poodle hybrids, are a great choice for families looking for a loyal and loving canine companion. They are highly intelligent and have an innate ability to sense their owner’s needs, making them one of the most trainable breeds around. Aussiedoodles also have an affectionate nature and are known to be quite curious and excited about the world, which makes them a great choice for children. Additionally, Aussiedoodles are full of energy and require regular exercise, providing perfect opportunities for families to stay active together.
Training an Aussiedoodle is a rewarding experience that can be done through basic obedience exercises, such as teaching it the names of simple commands like 'sit' and 'lie down'. You can also teach more complex tricks, like fetch or going through an agility course. In any case, the most important aspect of training is consistency, making sure you use the same commands during each exercise. You should also use positive reinforcement when the dog successfully completes the requested tasks, providing treats and verbal praise.
