Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodle, also known as Aussie-Poo, is a hybrid of two popular breeds; a purebred Australian Shepherd and a Poodle. These designer dogs are highly intelligent, active, and trainable. They typically have an easy-going, friendly temperament and make wonderful family pets. Aussiedoodles are hypoallergenic and have lowto non-shedding coats that often come in a variety of colors. They have a moderate energy level and require regular exercise and playtime with their families to stay healthy and happy.
Aussiedoodles are a lowto non-shedding breed, so they may not be the best choice for people with serious allergies. However, there are some steps you can take to reduce symptoms. First, be sure to keep your Aussiedoodle well groomed; this means regular brushing and cleaning of its coat. Next, keep your pet out of areas where allergens accumulate, such as the bedroom. Third, use air purifiers and vacuums with HEPA filters on carpets and furniture.
Aussiedoodles should not be fed any type of human food including chocolate, alcohol, caffeine, raisins or currants, xylitol and avocados. Many of these foods carry toxins that are toxic to dogs in general, and Aussiedoodles should never be given them. Additionally, any food that has bones should be avoided, including cooked bones from any sort of meat or poultry. Eating bones can cause choking, severe stomach irritation, intestinal blockage, and even death in dogs.
Aussiedoodles tend to be quite hardy and adaptable to most environments, but they do need regular grooming and exercise as well as an occasional health checkup to maintain optimal health. As with any breed, they may have some specific dietary requirements, and should be fed a well-balanced diet appropriate for their age, size, and activity level. Like most breeds, Aussiedoodles need consistent training and an effective approach to get the best results. They can tend to be independent if not properly handled, and may be somewhat stubborn.
It is hard to determine exactly how big your Aussiedoodle puppy will be. Generally, this breed is a medium-sized dog, which means they typically range from weighing 30-55 pounds and standing 20-24 inches at the shoulder. That being said, some Aussiedoodles can be smaller, while some can be larger than what is stated. As your pup grows and matures, the size will become more apparent. Also, the size of an Aussiedoodle may depend on the size of the parents.
Aussiedoodles, being a crossbreed of an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, are an active and energetic dog who require ample exercise to keep them healthy and content. In general, these dogs should have at least an hour of vigorous exercise daily. If possible, try to get your Aussiedoodle outside for walk, hikes, or outdoor activities. For better overall health, it may be beneficial to engage in activities such as agility training or advanced obedience for sharp mental stimulation.
Aussiedoodles are known for their intelligence, friendly nature, and loyalty, making them an excellent addition to any family. They typically get along very well with children due to their loving personalities, and will often provide hours of fun and companionship. Aussiedoodles have a reputation for being especially patient and loving with kids, making them an excellent choice for households with children. Training and socialization from an early age is important, however, to make sure that the pup and children develop a strong bond.
Training an Aussiedoodle isn't necessarily easy but it can be extremely rewarding. There's no one-size-fits-all approach but developing a clear and consistent pattern of communication with your Aussiedoodle is a great start. Establishing good habits and boundaries early on in the relationship is important in order for them to get accustomed to a certain level of discipline. Additionally, using positive reinforcement is a great way to encourage good behavior. Providing treats, praise, and affection for good behavior can go a long way.
