Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are incredibly interesting dogs. Not only are they a hybrid of two of the most popular dog breeds Australian Shepherds and Poodles but they are also incredibly intelligent and easy to train. Additionally, Aussiedoodles often have a unique coat of fur that can come in a variety of colors, adding to their distinctiveness. Because they are part poodle, Aussiedoodles also typically don't shed, making them an ideal companion for allergy sufferers. They are also loyal to their families and tend to be quite protective of them.
Aussiedoodles typically have soft, wavy coats that can range from a flat, sandy-textured coat to that of a curlier Poodle coat. Their fur is usually low-shedding and hypoallergenic, making them a great choice for those with allergies. Depending on their breeding, the Aussiedoodle can come in a variety of color combinations, such as Phantom, Merle, Parti, Abstract, Sable, and Brindle. Their thick, luxurious coats are typically long and silky, with a lot of variation in length.
Aussiedoodles are an intelligent, active breed that requires a nutritious, balanced diet. We recommend avoiding foods that are high in unhealthy fats, such as fast food, to ensure the dog's overall health and wellbeing. Additionally, avoid feeding the animal sharp bones from raw meat, poultry, or fish, as these can easily splinter and cause injuries. Treats should additionally be limited to US-made products that are free from artificial preservatives, sweeteners, or colors.
If you're getting an Aussiedoodle, it's important to stock up on essential supplies to ensure they have everything they need. First and foremost, you should purchase a sturdy, comfortable dog bed, made of material appropriate for your pup's size and fur type and have plenty of dog toys to keep them entertained. Next, get a leash and collar or a harness appropriate for their size. Nutrition is key, so buy a high-quality food that’s recommended for their size, age and activity level, as well as the necessary dishes for feeding and watering.
The size of your Aussiedoodle puppy will depend on which specific dog breeds were used to create the Aussiedoodle. Generally speaking, Aussiedoodles can range in size anywhere from 10-30 inches tall and may weigh from 15-80lbs or more. This wide range of sizes is due to the fact that the Aussiedoodle is a hybrid breed created by crossing two different breeds of dogs—an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle of any size.
Aussiedoodles need regular exercise to stay healthy and to maintain an enjoyable temperament. They have moderate energy and need a daily walk, along with plenty of playtime throughout the day, to ensure they are getting enough activity. Provide them with at least 30 minutes to an hour of exercise daily, such as walks, hikes, bike rides, frisbee, and swimming. two short walks, games of fetch, and other physical activities are also important, with their breed trait of being intelligent, they are known to also thrive in mentally stimulating activities such as playing with interactive toys and agility courses.
Aussiedoodles tend to get along very well with children. These intelligent and loyal dogs make highly enjoyable family pets as they are typically gentle, friendly, and devoted. They are incredibly patient, affectionate, and reliable always alert and attentive and can provide companionship and protectiveness in equal doses. Aussiedoodles are great with children and small pets if they are well socialized and trained, creating an enjoyable and safe environment for everyone.
The amount of time you should dedicate to training an Aussiedoodle depends on several factors, including your pup's age, energy level, and attention span. In general, 3-5 minutes of training per day for each month of life is a good guideline. For example, a 3-month-old pup should receive about 9-15 minutes of training each day, while an adult dog may need 30 minutes or more each day. However, working on skills like obedience or agility answering a puzzle toy can also count towards training time.
