Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are a popular crossbreed of dog. They are a mix between the Australian Shepherd and the Standard (or Miniature) Poodle. They are also sometimes referred to as an Aussiepoo or an Aussie-Poo. Aussiedoodles generally have a strong work ethic and are highly intelligent. They fall into the herder or working class, as their Australian Shepherd parent is a herder, but their Poodle parent brings a lighter build and coat to the mix.
Aussiedoodles may not cause you to experience allergies, however it is important to be aware that some individuals with allergies may be more sensitive to certain types of dog breeds and may experience or be more at risk for developing allergy-related symptoms. For example, people with allergies to dander or animal fur may be more sensitive to a possessive breed like the Aussiedoodle. Therefore, before bringing a Aussiedoodle into your home, it is best to consult your doctor or allergist and ensure that you do not have any known allergies.
Aussiedoodles, like all breeds, should not be fed anything greasy, moldy, spoiled, or high in sugar. Additionally, they should avoid any type of table food like poultry skin; fat, gristle, or bones from beef, pork, lamb, or other meat; herring; organ meats; or fish. Many of these foods can contain bacteria or toxins, which could harm your pet if ingested. Aussiedoodles should also not be fed rawhide, as it could potentially cleave off in chunks and become lodged in the throat or digestive tract.
Before getting an Aussiedoodle, it's essential to make sure that you have the proper supplies for your furry friend. This includes things like a leash, collar, ID tags, food and water bowls, food and treats, grooming supplies, and toys for play. Additionally, ensure that you have necessary health documents and paperwork readily available, along with any general medical supplies like flea and tick prevention and heartworm medication. Finally, it is also important to set up a comfortable bed for your Aussiedoodle to sleep, as well as providing a safe, secure place to relax.
Aussiedoodles are considered medium to large-sized dogs, typically weighing between 40 to 70 pounds and reaching heights of up to 24 inches. While it can be difficult to draw a line for what constitutes a large dog and what should be considered a medium-sized dog, most experts will agree that larger Aussiedoodles would qualify as large dogs. However, it is important to note that size may vary from litter to litter, and even individual to individual within the same litter. Ultimately, the size of the Aussiedoodle will depend on their breeding and parents.
Generally speaking, the amount of exercise your Aussiedoodle needs depends on several factors such as age, breed, and fitness level. That being said, a good rule of thumb is to walk your four-legged companion for at least 30 minutes a day. If your Aussiedoodle is still a puppy, you should opt for shorter walks of 10-15 minutes at a time and gradually build up as your pup matures. If your Aussiedoodle is already a mature adult, providing it with an hour of daily walking and playtime with other dogs is ideal.
Aussiedoodles are well-known for being one of the best family dogs around. They have a great temperment and are incredibly loyal, loving, and gentle around kids, often forming strong bonds with each family member. They are even-tempered and have a playful and comical personality, which make them a joy to have around children. They also tend to have lower levels of aggression, allowing them to fit in well with other pets and make great companions for kids of all ages.
Aussiedoodles require at least 30 minutes of exercise a day to stay healthy and content. Depending on their age and how active they are, they may need more. When physical and mental stimulation are combined for optimal results, try to get 45 minutes to an hour of exercise with your Aussiedoodle every day. If you can't fit this amount of exercise into your day, split it up into two short bursts of 20 or so minutes.
