Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are a designer hybrid breed of dog, resulting from the cross between Australian Shepherds and Poodles. Generally, Aussiedoodles are considered to be part of the herding group of dogs because their Australian Shepherd ancestors are classed as herding dogs. In terms of physical traits, they usually have a moderately long wavy or curly coat that can come in a variety of different colors and they often have muted markings or a "merle" color pattern.
Aussiedoodles can be low-shedding depending on the generations. Generally, the F1 and F1B generations of these hybrids are considered the least likely to shed of the Aussiedoodle family. However, all hybrids may have inherited their Poodle or Australian Shepherd parent's coat, so fur may still appear around the house. For those looking for non-shedding companions, the F2B and multi-generation crosses can be the best choice as they benefit from taking the low-shedding coat of both parents.
Aussiedoodles are a mix of an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, making them a high-energy breed that requires a nutritious diet. To help maintain their health, it's important to choose appropriate food for Aussiedoodles that provide balanced nutrition but avoid those items that could be detrimental to their health. Things to avoid include table scraps, rawhide, sugary snacks, highly processed human food, and any other products containing high-calorie fillers.
Before introducing a new Aussiedoodle into your life, it's important to make sure you are prepared. First, gather all the necessary items, such as puppy food, a crate, a bed, and some new toys. It's also advisable to properly puppy proof your home, so your furry friend can explore whilst staying safe. Next, begin researching the breed and their unique personality traits to ensure you are able to accommodate for their care and well-being. Socializing and attending puppy classes are also a great way to start their journey in a positive way.
Aussiedoodles come in a range of sizes, depending on the specific combination of parent breeds used to create them. Most commonly, Aussiedoodles are created by combining an Australian Shepherd with a Poodle, which results in what is known as "Toy," "Miniature," or "Standard" size. Toy Aussiedoodles typically weigh about 10 to 14 pounds and are usually around 12 to 14 inches tall when full grown, whereas Miniature Aussiedoodles will be anywhere from 14 to 17 pounds with a height between 14 and 16 inches.
An Aussiedoodle should be walked for at least 30 minutes per day. This should be divided into two 15 minute sessions, or one 30 minute session if you have the time. If you have enough energy, you can add in a third 15 minute session each day. As an active breed, Aussiedoodles thrive when they have regular exercise. 30 minutes per day is enough for them to stay fit and healthy while allowing them some time to relax. If you have a fenced yard or access to a dog park, this would be a great place to take them for their walks.
Aussiedoodles make great family dogs! They are incredibly loving and loyal creatures, and will easily form strong bonds with members of any family. Aussiedoodles are often very gentle and patient with children, and enjoy spending quality time with them. They also tend to be very intelligent, making them quite easy to train. Aussiedoodles are usually very low-shedding dogs and their hair can come in a variety of colors and textures, making them well suited to any home.
Aussiedoodles are considered to be extremely smart dogs and can benefit from daily training. So, how much training is recommended? Well, the amount of training that is right for your Aussiedoodle can depend on several factors, such as their age, size, and temperament. Generally, it’s suggested to devote a minimum of 10-15 minutes per day to training and teaching basic commands or other tricks. However, if your Aussiedoodle has a lot of energy or is still a puppy, they may need additional training sessions to help them learn.
