They are typically loving, energetic, and versatile dogs that are great for families with children since they enjoy playing and have a friendly attitude. Aussiedoodles also tend to be intelligent and highly trainable, making them great for learning new tricks and skills. Aussiedoodles generally come in a range of colors, often with patterns and are usually low to non-shedding, making them a great choice for those who suffer from allergies.
Aussiedoodles are valued for being low-shedding, much like their parent breeds, the Australian Shepherd and the Poodle. Both the Australian Shepherd and the Poodle have thick double coats that are designed to be non-shedding. As a result, the Aussiedoodles breed tends to have the same low-shedding trait. There are some owners that report very little to no shedding, though that may vary from Aussiedoodle to Aussiedoodle.
Aussiedoodles are highly active dogs with big appetites and thus require a nutrient-rich diet. Generally, it is recommended that an Aussiedoodle eats a high-protein, high-fat diet with specific supplements, depending on the pup's size, breed, and activity levels. In particular, Aussiedoodles do best when their diets consist of approximately 25% protein, 12% fat, and 60% carbohydrates such as grains, sweet potatoes, and vegetables.

The Miniature Aussiedoodles usually range from about 15 to 18 inches tall, weighing approximately 18 to 30 pounds when full grown. Standard-sized Aussiedoodles are the largest, standing at around 19 to 23 inches tall and typically reaching a weight of 30 to 50 pounds as an adult.
Aussiedoodles generally enjoy swimming and may even take to it quite naturally. Of course, how much they enjoy it depends on the individual dog, but this breed typically loves to be in the water. Aussiedoodles often have an affinity for swimming due to their Australian Shepherd and Poodle parentage, as both parent breeds make very capable swimmers.
