Aussiedoodles, also known as Aussie-Poos, are a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle. As a result, they can be either a Toy, Miniature, or Standard Poodle, so it’s difficult to classify them as one particular breed. Generally speaking, these dogs are intelligent, active, and playful, making them a good choice for active families who enjoy the outdoors. The Australian Shepherd portion of the mix gives them a keen instinct and natural herding capabilities, which they may carry with them even without a lot of training.
The Aussiedoodle coat is a beautiful combination of Australian Shepherd fur and Poodle fur. The hybrid can sport either a short, medium or long coat, depending on the characteristics of the parents. Generally, Aussiedoodles have soft, dense fur with a fine texture and they can shed to varying degrees. In terms of colors, they tend to look like their Australian Shepherd parent with its signature blotches of brown, tan and white or like their Poodle parent, boasting blondes, blacks, grays and silvers.
