They are typically friendly and devoted animals, making them great companions for families with children or for people living alone. They are also typically low-shedding, making them ideal for those who are allergic to furry friends. Additionally, due to their intelligence, they are easily trainable and often used as service animals, therapy animals, and even search and rescue dogs.
