Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, resulting in a breed that is incredibly intelligent, loyal, and energetic! Aussiedoodles make excellent family pets, as they are often very accepting of new people and other pets, and they love to play! They typically do not shed much, making them ideal for those with pet allergies. Aussiedoodle coats come in a wide variety of colors, including brown, black, and even bi-color.
The Aussiedoodle coat is typically quite soft and luxurious. They have both a dense undercoat and longer guard hairs, giving them an overall fuzzy appearance. Aussiedoodles' fur can come in a variety of colors, ranging from solid black, white, and gray to more vibrant shades of apricot, chocolate and champagne. They can also be found in a variety of combinations of colors, such as black with white markings or other two-tone paternations. Some Aussiedoodles shed lightly, while others can be considered non-shedding.
Aussiedoodles are a healthy and energetic breed, and their diets should be accordingly nutritious. To avoid potential health risks, owners are advised not to feed their Aussiedoodles table scraps, human food, toxic products, or even 'dog treats' offered on the market. Some other 'people food' including chocolate, onions, chives, grapes, caffeine, tomato plants, apricot pips, and mushrooms should also be avoided. Moreover, feeding too many fatty treats can turn Aussiedoodles into overweight and unhealthy fur-babies.
Aussiedoodles are relatively low maintenance dogs that typically require very few special requirements. They make great family pets due to their adaptable nature and easy-going temperament. Generally, an Aussiedoodle will need regular grooming to help keep their coats healthy and manageable, as well as exercise to maintain an optimal weight. Additionally, they will need to be given access to plenty of fresh, clean water, and have their nails regularly trimmed to prevent them from overgrowing.
Aussiedoodles, though generally smaller than some of the more popular large breed dogs, can still be considered a 'big' class of dog. Adult Aussiedoodles range in size from 14-19 inches and can range in weight from 13-70 pounds, meaning that even the smaller of the Aussiedoodle specimens range in size larger than the average lapdog. Furthermore, Aussiedoodles possess memory and problem-solving skills that rival those of larger breeds, making them perfect companions for those looking for a “big” dog without the added size.
Absolutely! Taking your Aussiedoodle running can be an excellent way to provide both physical and mental stimulation, and help build a strong bond between you and your dog. You should start by introducing them to running gradually, allowing them to build up their endurance and conditioning over time. Be sure to have plenty of water and stops throughout your runs and reward your pup with treats for good behavior. Additionally, you should check with your veterinarian to ensure that your dog is fit and healthy enough for running and to find out any specific health risks or concerns.
Aussiedoodles typically get along extremely well with children. They are an adaptable and loving breed that can form strong attachments to their families. They are very loyal, and they enjoy spending time with their people. Aussiedoodles are also incredibly intuitive and tend to be protective of kids, as they recognize their inherent vulnerability. They are very patient and often love playing fetch or teaching kids some basic commands. Additionally, they often make great playmates, as they are always eager to give lots of love and tail wags.
Aussiedoodles do best with daily exercise or playtime to keep them healthy and happy. The amount of minutes per day will depend on the age and activity level of the individual Aussiedoodle. Generally speaking, younger Aussiedoodles should get around 20-30 minutes of exercise per day while adult Aussiedoodles can do well with up to an hour. To ensure your Aussiedoodle is getting enough exercise, offer play sessions, walks, agility courses, and other activities that engage both their body and mind.
