Questions & Answers
An Aussiedoodle is a hybrid dog breed that is created by crossing an Australian Shepherd with a Poodle. This breed has become increasingly popular in recent years due to their social personality and low-shedding coat. Aussiedoodles are typically very friendly and outgoing, making them great companions for families and couples. They are often quite playful and active, making them excellent choices for a house pet. Furthermore, this breed is known for their intelligence and can easily be taught various commands and tricks.
Aussiedoodles can be considered hypoallergenic given that they are typically bred with both Poodles and Australian Shepherds. Because this combination is a hybrid breed they can have a variety of traits which make them have lower allergens than the typical dog. Generally speaking, all dogs have some amount of allergens present unless they are carefully bred specifically for low allergen content in their fur and dander.
Aussiedoodle owners should avoid feeding their pet table scraps, as many human foods are not good for their health and can lead to GI issues. In addition, foods that are high in unhealthy fats and sugar, or those that contain harmful ingredients like chocolate, grapes, raisins, and onions, should not be given to your Aussiedoodle as they can make them sick. Also, you should never feed your pet uncooked or undercooked meat, as well as raw eggs or dairy products. Finally, sugar-free products that contain xylitol should be completely avoided.
Before getting an Aussiedoodle, it's important to make sure you have the right supplies. You should get a collar or harness with your dog's name and your contact information on it, as well as a leash, a water and food bowl, some healthy, nutritious food specifically for a puppy, treats, toys, and a crate. Other items to consider would be a brush, nail clipper, brush, sponge, and shampoo specifically for dogs. Having these items ready before getting your Aussiedoodle will make the transition to your home much easier.
Aussiedoodles can range in size depending on if they are a Toy, Miniature, or Standard size Aussiedoodle. Toy Aussiedoodles typically weigh 12-15 pounds and are around 12-14 inches tall at the shoulder. Miniature Aussiedoodles will usually range 15-30 pounds and stand somewhere between 15-17 inches tall. Unfortunately, Standard Aussiedoodles can vary considerably in size due to the range of parent breeds. On average, they will typically be from 30-50 pounds.
When it comes to the topic of how many minutes per day you should walk your Aussiedoodle, the recommendation is to aim for around 45 to 60 minutes of walking time per day. Many of factors, such as individual energy level, age, and environmental factors, can influence the amount of exercise required. It is also important to take into account the fitness level of your dog when factoring in the amount of walking time. To ensure your Aussiedoodle is getting the appropriate amount of exercise, it's best to start off with 30-minute walks and adjust accordingly.
Aussiedoodles are excellent family dogs. They are known for their good nature and patience towards children. They are also intelligent, loyal, and eager to learn. They thrive on physical and mental stimulation, so they love to play and be active. They are eager to please their owners and are very willing to please. Aussiedoodles are also quite affectionate and do best when given plenty of love and attention. As long-haired dogs, grooming is important, but regular brushing will help keep their coats healthy.
Training your Aussiedoodle requires consistency, dedication, and patience. Before you begin any training, it is important to make sure your pup is properly socialized and has all of their basic obedience commands down, such as “sit,” “stay,” “come,” and “down.” Once these basics are established, you can move on to more complicated tasks. Try using positive reinforcement with treats or verbal and physical praise as motivation. Gradually increase the difficulty of the task and keep sessions short and enjoyable.
