Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are undeniably fun pups! This hybrid breed is the result of a cross between a Poodle and an Australian Shepherd, which means its parents are both very intelligent, active, and friendly. Because Aussiedoodles thrive in a variety of climates and activity levels, they are a great option for playmates of any age. Aussiedoodles are also known for their low-shedding coats, which make them a great choice for people with allergies.
Aussiedoodles are a hybrid breed, so they're not particularly prone to allergies, however there are some things you can do to manage them. The first step is to get allergies properly diagnosed by a veterinarian. Once it is determined that your pet is suffering from allergies, your vet can give you a list of treatments, and advice on a special diet and lifestyle that might help. Additionally, you should ensure that your dog does not come into contact with allergens, keep its bedding clean, and regularly clean its fur with a suitable shampoo.
Your Aussiedoodle should receive a nutritionally balanced diet to meet their particular needs. Look for high-quality, age-appropriate dog food that contains natural proteins, hip and joint supplements, fatty acids, antioxidants, and fiber. This is best achieved through a combination of wet and dry food, adapted as your pup grows. It's important to feed them regular amount of food, and avoid overfeeding. Provide them with healthy snacks, such as fruits and vegetables, but don't forget to monitor their calorie intake.
Before bringing your new Aussiedoodle home, there are several key steps you can take to make the transition smoother. First, inform yourself on the breed and examine its common behaviors, grooming requirements, health care needs, and exercise demands. Having a general understanding of the breed ahead of time will help you know what to expect. Secondly, stock up on the basic supplies your pup will need, like a proper collar and leash, food and water dishes, an appropriately sized crate, a quality food with no filler ingredients, and any toys you think they may enjoy.
Aussiedoodles come in all sizes, depending on the traits of the parent breeds. They range from toy-sized, which are usually around 15 pounds or less, to a large standard-sized Aussiedoodle, which typically prize out at around 70 pounds. The most common size of Aussiedoodle is the medium size, which runs between 20 to 50 pounds when fully grown. Aussiedoodles bred purposefully for pet owners may range anywhere from 10-80 lbs depending on the size of their parents.
Aussiedoodles, like all breeds of dogs, need consistent exercise and mental stimulation to remain healthy and happy. An adult Aussiedoodle needs at least 30-45 minutes of daily exercise, including vigorous aerobic activity such as running, playtime, and/or socializing with other dogs. When it comes to young PuppyMoodles, they need at least two 20-minute walks a day. The exercise they get should be moderate to strenuous, depending on their age, size, mood, and health.
Aussiedoodles are a highly affectionate, intelligent, and loyal breed and make a great choice for those with kids. These dogs usually get along well with children of all ages; their sweet, playful personalities enable them to interact well with little ones in particular. Aussiedoodles learn quickly, so with early socialization and lots of treats, they can become amazing playmates and protectors that children can trust. Good care and caretaker guidance are necessary, of course, to ensure everyone stays safe and the dog remains friendly and happy.
Training an Aussiedoodle is best done with positive reinforcement from an early age. Establishing good behaviors and habits should be your focus when starting to train your pup. Make sure to reward your pup with treats and verbal praise when they accomplish a task and avoid using any type of punishing or negative reinforcement. Many Aussiedoodles respond well to clicker training. This involves using a small, handheld device to make a clicking sound and then giving your pup a reward.
