Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are a hybrid breed that is a combination of standard Poodles and Australian Shepherds. They are highly active, intelligent, loyal, and friendly dogs which makes them a perfect companion to families. They tend to be quite sociable and thrive in a home that offers companionship. They also require consistent exercise and mental stimulation in order to stay happy and healthy. Aussiedoodles are very easy to housebreak and they typically enjoy being involved in outdoor activities.
Aussiedoodles do not usually shed too much compared to other breeds. Generally, these hybrid pups have coats that are mostly hypoallergenic, with some individuals not shedding at all. While you may notice a sprinkle of hair here and there, this breed does not generally leave behind large clumps of hair like some other breeds. It is, however, a good idea to give your pup regular brushing sessions to keep their coat looking great and to reduce shedding even further. It's also helpful to bathe them whenever needed as well.
Aussiedoodles typically have the same dietary needs as other canines, but there are a few things to consider. Since they are a hybrid breed, they can have varied temperaments and have the potential to be more active than other dogs, so they may require more calories. Therefore, it is generally a good idea to provide a high quality food rich in protein and fats. Aussiedoodles may be more prone to allergies and sensitivities, so it's important to watch out for ingredients used, including additives, preservatives, or artificial ingredients.
Preparing for a new Aussiedoodle will require some important steps. First, be sure to plan ahead and obtain all of the supplies that will be necessary to ensure that your pup is comfortable and happy in its new home. This includes items such as food, chew toys, bedding, a crate or kennel, and a leash. Additionally, be sure to research and select a reliable veterinarian and schedule an initial appointment to discuss any medical needs or vaccinations that your pup may require. Finally, set aside some special time each day to properly train and bond with your pup.
Aussiedoodles are typically considered medium-sized dogs. They usually have a weight range of between 35 and 50 pounds, making them slightly larger than the average small-breed dog. However, like any breed, there is a range in size. Aussiedoodles of the Shepadoodle variety may be larger than the normal range, while the smaller Toy Aussiedoodle may weigh less than 35 pounds, making it a small breed. Generally, Aussiedoodles are considered hybrid dogs as they have both Australian Shepherd and Poodle genetics.
As a general rule of thumb, Aussiedoodles should get no less than 30 minutes and no more than 60 minutes of walking per day. Depending on their age, general health, and energy level, that amount can vary. If you have a more active Aussiedoodle, they may need more time outside on their walks. Young Aussiedoodles may need less as they mature. High-energy Aussiedoodles should get at least two or three 40-minute walks per day.
Aussiedoodles are well-suited to first-time owners who are up for the challenge! They are loyal, intelligent, and easy to train when provided with positive reinforcement. Aussiedoodles also make a great companion and are known for their friendly, affectionate personality. They have boundless energy and need a lot of physical and mental stimulation to stay happy, so they're ideal for active households. Even so, their coat is very low maintenance and doesn't require a lot of grooming.
Training your Aussiedoodle should start as soon as you bring them home. Positive reinforcement and rewards are great ways to implement training, as they encourage desired behaviors while reinforcing togetherness. Start with basic commands, such as sit, stay, come, and leave it, and use treats and verbal praise when they obey. Make sure to be consistent with commands and provide rewards once they are successful. Training your Aussiedoodle should also include exercise and socialization.
