Questions & Answers
An Aussiedoodle is a hybrid, designer pup, created by crossing a purebred Australian Shepherd and a purebred Standard Poodle. This unique canine has become increasingly popular due to its sweet, gentle, and affectionate nature, as well as its intelligence. The size of an Aussiedoodle can vary depending on which parent they take after the most, but generally speaking, they tend to be moderate-sized and can range anywhere from 18-22 inches tall and 25-70 pounds.
Aussiedoodles, a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, can be referred to as "hypoallergenic" because they are generally low shedders. This means that they do not lose as much fur and dander as other breeds – both of which are common triggers of allergies. While an Aussiedoodle cannot be considered truly hypoallergenic, many individuals with allergies report that they are less likely to experience symptoms such as sneezing, itchy eyes, watery eyes, or a stuffy nose when around one of these dogs.
Aussiedoodles should not be given foods like chocolate, grapes, raisins, almonds, macadamia nuts, candy, onions, garlic, chives, and alcohol as these can be potentially dangerous for their health. Human food should also be kept to a minimum because Aussiedoodles can become overweight or even develop pancreatitis. Rawhide, bones, and other items designed for dogs can also be dangerous, so they should not be given to Aussiedoodles, either.
Before bringing home an Aussiedoodle, you should have the essentials needed to provide them with a safe, secure, and comforting environment. Start with the basics like a collar, leash, and tag for identification. You should also make sure to have plenty of toys and activities to stimulate their minds, as Aussiedoodles are energetic and intelligent, and need outlets for their energy. Investing in worm and flea protection, a quality dog bed, and brushes and combs to help with shedding will all ensure that your Aussiedoodle stays healthy and happy.
Aussiedoodles are considered a medium-sized breed, and as puppies, they will probably be anywhere between 15–30 pounds depending on their genetics. As a result, it's difficult to pinpoint an exact size your puppy will be when fully grown. However, you can learn more about the size of your pup’s parents or ask your breeder if they can give you an estimate. Generally speaking, an adult Aussiedoodle can weigh anywhere from 20–50 pounds depending on the size of their parents.
Aussiedoodles are in fact a very active breed of dog. This breed has an impressive energy and an instinct to want to please its owners, so they are highly motivated to participate in activities. This lively, people-oriented breed loves playing, whether it’s running, chasing, or fetching. A regular exercise routine that fits the dog’s level of energy and personality is ideal as it will help to keep them fit and healthy.
Aussiedoodles make wonderful family pets! They are loyal and loving companions that thrive when surrounded by a loving family, so they are an ideal choice for families with children or multiple pets. Additionally, they have a great temperament and a strong desire to please their owners, making them a great choice for beginning pet owners who are just getting into the groove of responsible pet ownership. With their high intelligence level and trainability, Aussiedoodles are an excellent option for families that want a friendly, obedient dog.
Training Aussiedoodles should be done on a consistent basis. Each day, two 15 minute sessions should be aimed for, with longer duration sessions two to three times a week. Each session should focus on a different element of training. For instance, the first session could be used for teaching basic commands, such as sit or stay, or to introduce potty training. The second session could be used to practice the newly introduced techniques or to reinforce recall and impulse control.
