One of the most interesting aspects of Aussiedoodles is that they embody the best traits of both breeds. This hybrid usually has a moderate energy level, but their Australian Shepherd heritage gives them an intelligence that makes them easy to train. As a result, they are great family pets that are very eager to please.
Aussiedoodles boast a beautiful and unique coat! Depending on their parents, they can have either a curly, wavy, or straight coat. Their coat is normally a mix of the Australian Shepherd and the Poodle coats, usually featuring a combination of both breeds' colors. You can expect a combination of textures, depending on the proportions of the Aussie to Poodle genes they inherit. Generally, the coat of an Aussiedoodle is quite low-shedding due to their Poodle parent's genes.
Aussiedoodles should not be fed any type of human food, such as chocolate, macadamia nuts, garlic, grapes, onions, and alcohol; all of these can cause stomach upset or worse in Aussiedoodles. Additionally, patients should avoid feeding their Aussiedoodles high-fat foods, which can cause pancreatitis and can be especially dangerous in puppies. Other foods to avoid include raw eggs, raw meat, raw fish, and canned tuna.
