Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are one of the most interesting hybrid breeds of dog. They're a cross between two of the most popular canine breeds: an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle. They have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their active-minded, fun-loving, and loyal personalities. They are excellent family companions and thrive in active households. One of the most unique characteristics of the Aussiedoodle breed is their thick, curly coat. Many owners enjoy the low-shedding nature of the breed, as well as its hypoallergenic nature.
Aussiedoodles are considered low-shedding dogs. This breed is a combination of an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, which are both low-shedding by nature. The Aussiedoodle's coat only releases a minimal amount of dander, and tends to be more dry and wiry than most other breeds, which makes them one of the ideal breeds for those looking for a hypoallergenic, low-shedding dog. They are still considered to have an average shedding pattern, however, so brushing will be necessary.
Aussiedoodles should not be fed table scraps, grease or oily foods, onions, garlic, mushrooms, alkaline, salty or sugary foods, chocolate, grapes, avocado, and other foods that could be toxic for them. Additionally, foods that are high in fat and are difficult to digest should be avoided. Foods such as rawhide, tea tree branches, bones, corn, and wheat should not be fed to Aussiedoodles.
Becoming the best puppy parent for your Aussiedoodle requires dedication and patience, but the rewards are worth it! Start by researching the breed's specific needs, from nutrition to exercise and grooming demands; your local vet can help provide guidance. Provide consistent and positive reinforcement to ensure your pup is learning the right behaviors. Create a schedule of daily activities to provide mental stimulation and establish consistent house rules and routines. Seek out puppy classes and positive socialization experiences to help your pup develop an easily-manageable temperament.
Aussiedoodles typically come in three sizes: standard, miniature, and toy. A standard Aussiedoodle can measure up to 23 inches and weigh 50 pounds, making them substantially larger than miniature and toy Aussiedoodles. Miniature Aussiedoodles are usually between 15-18 inches in height and can weigh between 25-35 pounds. Toy Aussiedoodles measure 10-14 inches in height and can weigh up to 15-20 pounds. All three sizes can vary in weight, but this is the average size and weight of each variety.
Aussiedoodles are an energetic breed of dog, and as such they require a good amount of exercise. On average, they need at least an hour of strenuous activity each day, ideally split into two separate sessions. This could include going on daily walks, playing in the backyard or going for a swim. Aussiedoodles are brilliant with agility, flyball and other activities and they excel when given mental stimulation. As long as they're getting the exercise and playtime they need, they will be happy and content.
Aussiedoodles can make great family dogs, due to their incredible intelligence, loyalty and loyal nature. They are also highly affectionate and need lots of social interaction. Aussiedoodles have endless amounts of energy and are great for families, as they love to play and take part in any outdoor activities like running or hiking. Additionally, their sweet nature makes them great with children. Aussiedoodles are known for their intelligence which makes them highly trainable and eager to learn. Training them with a consistent routine will help them become obedient and mature faster.
Training an Aussiedoodle can be relatively easy depending on the particular puppy and the level of motivation. Generally, like all dogs, they will need a consistent, positive reinforcement approach combined with clear reward-based treats or praise to motivate them to learn quickly. Aussiedoodles respond best when a structure of commands and rules is introduced early and enforced consistently. Obedience and agility classes can further help with proper conditioning, and it is suggested to start training your Aussiedoodle as soon as possible.
