Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are a delightful mix of two beloved breeds – the Australian Shepherd and the Poodle. They are considered a hybrid, because they are not recognized as an official breed. Aussiedoodles come in many sizes; from the standard, which is about 50 pounds, to the mini which is about 15 pounds. These dogs make wonderful family pets because they are intelligent, loyal, lively, and bond closely with their owners. Aussiedoodles also commonly have wonderful soft fur, which can range from wavy to curly depending on the combination of their parent breeds' genetics.
The Aussiedoodle coat is made up of a combination of two different breeds, the Australian Shepherd and a Poodle. It typically has a soft, fluffy texture and is long, sometimes reaching all the way to the floor. It often sheds very minimally, depending on which type of coat it inherits from its parents – the curlier the coat, the less it will shed. The coat comes in a variety of colors, including black, white, gray, brown, and apricot, as well as some color combinations.
Aussiedoodles generally don't have any special dietary requirements beyond the typical needs of most dogs. However, they do benefit from quality proteins and beneficial dietary fats. A well-balanced diet should also include vitamins and minerals, as well as carbohydrates to fuel athletic activities. It's important to avoid foods with unhealthy fats, as Aussiedoodles can quickly become overweight. While treats are okay in a controlled environment, it's important not to feed table scraps as it can contribute to poor health.
Before getting an Aussiedoodle, there are some essentials you should consider purchasing. For start, you should get the necessary supplies such as a crate, food and water bowls, identification tags, bedding, a collar and leash, and toys. Additionally, consider getting a brush and grooming tools, dental chews, and a selection of treats to reward your pet. Furthermore, if your pup's coat is not waterproof, invest in a coat or sweater to protect him during cold, wet weather. You should also get pet insurance to ensure your pet's healthcare needs are covered.
Aussiedoodles come in a variety of shapes and sizes, depending on the parents' genetics. Most breeders aim to produce three size categories: mini (under 30 pounds), medium (30 to 45 pounds), and standard (45-50 pounds). However, due to the unpredictability of mixed-breed genetics, there can be quite a bit of variation within size categories. Generally, Aussiedoodles have a similar look/appearance regardless of size, although minis and mediums tend to have a slightly thicker coat than standards.
Aussiedoodles are highly active dogs and enjoy daily exercise, play, and interactive activities. Their intelligence makes them an excellent fit for activities like sport obedience, agility, and herding. Aussiedoodles require plenty of stimulation and training to keep them challenged mentally, as well as to release any excess energy they may have. Regular walks, hikes, or romps in the park can help your pup stay in shape. Additionally, Aussiedoodles can benefit from interactive games like fetch, nose work, treasure hunts, and tug-of-war.
Aussiedoodles make great companions for families. They are an affectionate and outgoing breed, and are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and playful demeanor. Aussiedoodles can be loving, gentle, and good with children. They form incredibly strong bonds with their owners, and will even act as protection dogs if they think their family is being threatened. Compared to other breeds, Aussiedoodles require less grooming upkeep, making them perfect for busy households. All in all, Aussiedoodles make excellent companions and are great family dogs.
Aussiedoodles need daily exercise and training to remain healthy, happy, and obedient. The ideal amount of minutes per day for training an Aussiedoodle is 45-60 minutes. During this time, you should focus on physical activities such as walking, fetch, and jogging as well as on obedience tasks such as basic commands like sit, stay, and come. Additionally, mental stimulation activities such as puzzle toys, clicker training, and scent games will help keep your Aussiedoodle occupied and help support the bond you have with them.
