Questions & Answers
Bernedoodles are hybrids of two very popular purebred dogs a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. This combination creates a beautiful, intelligent and friendly breed that is becoming increasingly popular with families and individuals alike. Bernedoodles come in a variety of sizes, ranging from standard to miniature, and even toy. These hybrid dogs also vary in coloring, often featuring black, white, and brown fur. Bernedoodles love physical and mental stimulation, as they are renowned for their high energy levels and intelligence.
Bernedoodles, which are a hybrid breed between Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles, are not always hypoallergenic, though they can be. Generally, the curlier a Bernedoodle's coat, the less likely they are to produce allergic or asthmatic reactions in people sensitive to dander or fur. That is why Bernedoodles with an F1B coat are often the most hypoallergenic, as this coat has the strongest tendency to be low-shedding, low-dander, and non-allergenic.
Knowing what not to feed your Bernedoodle is an important part of being a responsible pet owner. It's always a good idea to consult your veterinarian on what kind of food is best for your Bernedoodle. If you're feeding a commercial dog food, it should be a premium brand with little to no grains, as grain-heavy foods can lead to allergies and other health concerns. In addition, most Bernedoodles should avoid table scraps, as they are more likely to be unhealthy and can upset your pet's digestive system and cause weight gain.
Preparing for your new Bernedoodle is an exciting and important step for you and your family! Start by researching the breed to gain a better understanding of their needs, personality, grooming and exercise requirements. Keep in mind that Bernedoodles are renowned for having active, social temperaments that need lots of love and attention. You will also need to provide plenty of high-quality food and create a safe and secure environment for them to thrive in. Make sure your home, backyard and other spaces you plan to bring your pup to often are puppy-proofed.
Bernedoodles can range in size from small to large depending on the type of bred. Mini Bernedoodles are generally around 15 to 25 pounds and 18 to 22 inches, while Standard Bernedoodles can get up to 70 to 90 pounds and 24 to 29 inches. Generally speaking, an adult Bernedoodle will weigh between 25 and 90 pounds. It's important to take into account the size of the parents when estimating the size of the Bernedoodle, since Bernedoodles are a mix of Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles.
Bernedoodles have moderate to high exercise needs. As with any animal, the exact amount of exercise required depends on the individual and their particular lifestyle, age, health and size. Generally speaking, Bernedoodles should have at least an hour of physical exercise per day. This can be anything from taking a walk or run, playing fetch, or any other kind of active, engaging activity that encourages your Bernedoodle to move its body.
Generally, Bernedoodles get along very well with kids. They have a gentle, loving nature and are highly intelligent, making them an excellent companion for young children. Bernedoodles' affectionate personality also makes them the perfect family pet, and they will often eagerly run, play, and cuddle with children of all ages. Because of their loyalty and warmth, Bernedoodles may even become protective of kids, meaning they will happily give extra attention to young ones.
Bernedoodles have a great combination of intelligence, activity level, and obedience making them some of the most intelligent dog breeds. They are a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, and inherit the intelligence of both. They remain eager to learn new skills and can be trained with a generous mixture of patience and consistency. In comparison to other breeds, Bernedoodles are quite smart as they excel in problem solving and can learn quickly. With training they can learn a variety of commands and tricks making them great canine companions.
