Bernedoodles are a cross breed between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, originally created to bring together the hypoallergenic coat of the poodle and the loyal, happy temperament of the Bernese. They come in three sizes, Standard (50-85lbs), Mini (25-50lbs), and Micro (15-30lbs). Bernedoodles are considered a designer breed and have been rapidly increasing in popularity in the last decade due to their unique traits.
It is true that Bernedoodles are non-shedding, however, like all breeds, it isn't always guaranteed. Generally speaking, Bernedoodles, because of their hybrid nature, usually come as a lowto no-shedding breed, though they will still need regular brushing and trimming to maintain their coat. Surprising to some, though Bernedoodles are low-shedding, they may still need a fair amount of grooming to maintain their hypoallergenic coat.
Bernedoodles, like all breeds, have different dietary needs. Generally speaking, they tend to require a healthy mix of whole proteins, fruits, and vegetables, as well as high quality fats and oils. It's important to also consider the age, activity level, and overall health of the Bernedoodle when deciding which type of diet would best suit them. A puppy's diet needs more protein to support growth than an adult, and active Bernedoodles may need more calories.
Before welcoming a Bernedoodle into your home, it is important to make sure you have all of the necessary items to make him or her feel comfortable and welcome.
