Questions & Answers
Bernedoodles are one of the most unique and interesting dog breeds out there. They offer a combination of intelligence and loving, affectionate personalities, along with having low shedding coats. They are also considered to be excellent with children, making them a great choice for families. Additionally, Bernedoodles come in a variety of sizes, colors, and patterns. Some examples of the colors and patterns include tricolor, sable, phantom, and brindle.
Bernedoodles vary in coat type, color, and even levels of hypoallergenic qualities. Generally, Bernedoodles are a hypoallergenic crossbreed due to the Poodle parent that typically has a low-shedding coat. But, the level of hypoallergenicity depends on the particular Bernedoodle. For instance, a Bernedoodle with the tightest curls on the body is most likely hypoallergenic due to the coat type.
Bernedoodles are hybridized dogs that descend from the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Poodle. As a result, they have unique dietary needs that depend both on their size and activity levels. They should generally receive a high-quality dog food rich in carbohydrates and proteins such as chicken, lamb, and fish. Omega fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals are also important for a Bernedoodle's overall health. The food should be tailored to their age, size, and activity levels. Depending on these factors, they may require anywhere between 2 and 4 cups of food per day.
Before getting a Bernedoodle, it's important to stock up on some essentials to ensure that you are prepared to take on all the new love and responsibility that comes with this breed. Make sure that you have a high-quality food, a bed/kennel, a leash and collar, basic grooming supplies such as a brush and comb, chew toys, a crate and/or a dog gate, and some treats for training. You'll also want to create a schedule for veterinary visits and set up regular flea and tick prevention.
Bernedoodles can vary in size depending on the purpose and particular breed they were bred for. Bernedoodles size usually range from small standard Bernedoodles, which typically weigh between 55 and 85 pounds, to the little, mini Bernedoodles, which average 15 to 50 pounds. Micro-Mini Bernedoodles are the smallest, weighing in at around 10 to 25 pounds and rarely growing taller than 17 inches when fully grown. While these are approximate estimates, each Bernedoodle is unique and not all will fit neatly into one of these categories.
Bernedoodles love the water and often enjoy taking a dip for leisure or exercise. They have webbed feet like other doodles, making them great swimmers. Many Bernedoodles have been known to splash in a lake or play in a pool. Not only do Bernedoodles enjoy swimming for fun, they have a strong natural instinct that makes them eager to cool off on hot days.
Bernedoodles are known for being friendly, intelligent, and loyal dogs, which makes them a great family pet! They also have lots of patience and enjoy spending time with their human companions, and many Bernedoodle owners report that their pooches get along very well with children, making them an ideal companion for households with kids. Moreover, these pups are affectionate and loving towards their family, and they tend to form particularly strong bonds with young children.
Training a Bernedoodle can be a rewarding experience, but it is important to remember that any training must be based on positive reinforcement. This means that rewarding good behavior with treats and attention is the key to success. Start off by introducing basic commands such as 'sit', 'down', 'stay', 'come', 'heel', and 'drop'. These commands should be taught one at a time and reinforced with treats and rewards. It is also essential to spend a few minutes each day teaching commands and reinforcing them with enjoyable activities such as agility or hunting drills.
