Bernedoodles are a perfect combination of Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles, giving you the best of both breeds. They are a highly hybridized breed that is considered to have Hypo-allergenic and non-shedding fur. This means that you won't be sneezing or worrying about vacuuming every night! They are also generally friendly, loyal and intelligent. Bernedoodles tend to be very loyal and loving towards their families, and with early socialization, they are good around children. They are very active and need regular exercise.
Bernedoodles are a combination of Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle, so whether a Bernedoodle is hypoallergenic or not depends on the individual dog and the traits inherited from the parent breeds. Generally speaking, Poodles are known for their hypoallergenic coats, so Bernedoodle puppies tend to have low-dander, low-shedding coats, which is great for people with allergies.
Bernedoodles can have the same dietary requirements as other dogs, however they may require additional nutrients in their diet due to their larger size. It's important to check with your veterinarian to ensure you're providing your Bernedoodle with the best, balanced diet possible. Be sure to feed your Bernedoodle high-quality food that is specifically designed for large-breed dogs, and consider supplements for antioxidants, glucosamine, and chondroitin, which can help keep their bodies in optimal condition.
Bernedoodles do have some special requirements that should be taken into account when considering whether or not they would be a good fit for you. As with any pet, Bernedoodles require regular brushing, combing, and bathing to maintain their beautiful coat. Additionally, Bernedoodles are an energetic and active breed, so they will need exercise, playtime, and even some form of mental stimulation daily. And, they are social dogs, which means that they should not be kept alone all of the time and need regular interaction with humans or other animals.
Bernedoodles come in a variety of sizes, ranging from a petite 11 pounds to a more grand 75 pounds. Depending on the parent breeds, Bernedoodles come in mini, medium, and standard sizes. A mini Bernedoodle tends to weigh less than 25 pounds; medium size Bernedoodles, also known as sheepadoodles, usually weigh between 25 and 45 pounds; whereas standard Bernedoodles can be anywhere up to 75 pounds. Further variations are giant Bernedoodles, which can weigh up to 100 pounds.
Bernedoodles need quite a bit of exercise to stay healthy and happy. It's recommended they receive at least 60 to 90 minutes a day of moderate to vigorous exercise, such as a long daily walk, an occasional hike, or playtime in a fenced-in yard. Swimming is also an excellent way to exercise them as it provides a low-impact activity. They enjoy activities like agility and flyball, plus socializing at a dog park.
Bernedoodles are an excellent choice for first-time owners due to their intelligence, laid-back nature, and loving character. Bernedoodles are hypoallergenic, meaning they shed very little. This makes them ideal for those with allergies or asthma. They require minimal exercise, and are generally lazy and easy going creatures. As Bernedoodles become adults, the amount of training you provide should increase to 30 minutes or more. The goal is to maintain what the pup has learned and teach new behaviors while providing mental and physical stimulation to keep your Bernedoodle healthy and happy.
