Bernedoodles are a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle which means that they inherit the fun-loving and affectionate personality of the Bernese Mountain Dog and the intelligence and low-shedding coat of the Poodle. They are growing in popularity for being an affectionate, loyal companion to families of all sizes and have been known to get along with people of all ages, as well as other animals. They are usually between 21 and 29 inches tall with a weight from 50 to 70 pounds.
The Bernedoodle coat is often considered to be soft, low-shedding and hypoallergenic. They have a unique teddy bear-like appearance, with a curly and wavy coat, and most Bernedoodles are born black with white accents. As an adult, they will often feature unique color patterns on their coat with a minimum of two colors and various shades. Some color variations include black/white, black/silver, black/tan, chocolate/gold, cream/caramel and even more unique multi-color combinations.
Bernedoodles have different dietary needs depending on their age, size, and level of activity, but generally, they require a diet full of healthy proteins and essential fatty acids. Bernedoodles can benefit from fresh or frozen meats, fish, eggs, fruits, and vegetables. They should also get a high-quality dry food that meets their nutritional needs and helps them maintain a healthy weight, as obesity can cause a number of significant health concerns. Additionally, Bernedoodles may benefit from low-fat treats and table food in moderation.
Bernedoodles, like other designer breeds, do not necessarily have any special requirements that set them apart from other dogs. Because Bernedoodles have a wavy to curly coat, they need regular brushing and pet grooming to keep their coat healthy and free of tangles. They have a happy-go-lucky personality and thrive in an active and loving environment.
