Bernedoodles are a hybrid crossbreed between the Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. This unique combination results in a dog that is highly intelligent, social and friendly, while also being low maintenance when it comes to shedding and grooming. As a designer dog, Bernedoodles are considered to be a ‘hybrid designer’ or ‘new breed’ which is why they are sometimes grouped together with other hybrid breeds like Cavapoos, Goldendoodles and Labradoodles.
Bernedoodles may not cause you to have allergies, as they have features from both the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Poodle, two hypoallergenic breeds. While there is no guarantee that a Bernedoodle will be 100% hypoallergenic, most Bernedoodles have no history of causing allergies in their owners or families, and their low-shedding coats can also greatly reduce the possibility of allergies. Additionally, Bernedoodles are often bred with wool coats, which can further reduce the risk of triggering seasonal allergies.
