Bernedoodles are one of the most unique and fun dog breeds out there! They are a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle and have stunning looks and personality traits that make them a favorite among families with children. They are highly intelligent, making them easier to train than other breeds, and they have a low to low-medium level of energy, meaning they get plenty of exercise but don’t require intense activity. They also have a great sense of humor and are said to truly love to be around people.
Bernedoodles are classified as a “hypoallergenic” breed of dog, which means they generally have very low ratings for provoking allergies in humans. This quality is due to their parent breeds, which are the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Poodle, both of which have been bred for their low-shedding coats. In addition, because of their mix of Poodle with Bernese Mountain Dog, their coats are often more “hypoallergenic” than that of either of the parent breeds.
Bernedoodles typically have the same dietary needs as other large breed dogs, although they may require a slightly different balance of macronutrients due to their unique crossbreed characteristics. Generally speaking, a well-rounded diet full of proteins, carbohydrates, essential fatty acids, and vitamins and minerals should provide Bernedoodles and their owners with the nutrients needed for a healthy and long life. Additionally, their size and age should be taken into consideration when considering their diet; puppies need more proteins and older Bernedoodles may need more fiber and fewer calories to maintain their weight.
Bernedoodles are a designer breed that can require some special care. While they tend to require moderate exercise, they don't need excessive grooming like some other breeds, because their coat is a combination of the Bernese Mountain Dog's and Poodle's low-shedding coats.
