Bernedoodles are a cross between a purebred Bernese Mountain Dog and a purebred Poodle. Not only are they known for being friendly and loving companions, they are also incredibly smart and obedient. Bernedoodles come in several sizes: Standard (over 50 lbs), Mini (under 50lbs), and Tiny (under 10lbs). They also come in a variety of colors, such as black and white, black and tan, silver and white, along with other standard variations.
Bernedoodles can be a great companion for people who have allergies; however, it is important to consider the fact that while Bernedoodles are considered hypoallergenic, due to their combination of Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle genetics, they still carry some of the same allergens as any other dogs. Therefore, it is always best to do a patch test with your Bernedoodle or with its parent breeds to get an idea of how much allergen is being produced before committing to ownership.
It is important to be aware of what not to feed Bernedoodles. There are certain foods that should be avoided as they can cause digestive problems or even become toxic to your Bernedoodle. It is recommended to stay away from human food such as dairy, onions, chives, ice cream, sugary desserts, grapes, citrus, candies, as well as garlic, avocados, and raw eggs.
