Questions & Answers

Bernedoodles are usually lowto non-shedding, and therefore make great pets for families with dog allergies. They come in a variety of sizes, colors, and coat types, including curly wavy and straight. Some varieties may even be hypoallergenic. Bernedoodles need daily exercise and stimulation to be happy, and do well in obedience classes and agility training.
Bernedoodles, which are a cross between Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles, may not cause allergies for some individuals, but they may for others. It's possible to be allergic to any breed of dog, and Bernedoodles are no exception. The best way to find out whether or not you’re allergic to a Bernedoodle is to spend some time with one to see if allergies develop. It is also beneficial to properly groom and train a Bernedoodle, which can help make them less likely to cause allergies.
Bernedoodles eat a variety of foods depending upon their age and size. Although their diet may vary depending on the individual sized breed, Bernedoodles typically require a balanced, high-quality diet with made up of proteins, fats, carbohydrates and vitamins. Smaller Bernedoodles may benefit from a smaller kibble while larger Bernedoodles may require larger kibble.
Bernedoodles are a crossbreed between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, so they can potentially have certain genetic health issues related to both parent breeds. However, most Bernedoodles are healthy dogs that have no special requirements other than regular vet visits. They don't need grooming or expensive food, and their exercise needs will vary depending on their size. Generally, Bernedoodles are quite sociable, so it's important for them to have plenty of playtime and mental stimulation. They don't usually like to be left alone for extended periods.
Bernedoodles can be categorized as either small, medium or large dogs depending on the size of their parents. Generally, the Bernedoodle parents used to breed a mini Bernedoodle are an toy or miniature poodle, and a Bernese Mountain Dog. Thus, the mini Bernedoodles will range from 15-34 lbs as adults. On the other hand, a standard Bernedoodle (bred from a standard poodle and a Bernese Mountain Dog) will usually range from 50-90 lbs as an adult.
It's important to walk your Bernedoodle for at least 20 minutes per day, and ideally up to an hour or more to keep them healthy and to provide ample opportunities for exercise and socialization. If you have a fenced-in yard, the Bernedoodle can get some exercise that way. Otherwise, you should plan to take your pup outside for regular walks. By increasing the number of daily walks, you can provide varied exercise to keep your Bernedoodle stimulated.
Yes! Bernedoodles are very friendly and loyal to their families. They have a lot of patience and are generally good-natured. This makes them the perfect pet for most families, especially those with children. Bernedoodles tend to do well in social situations and get along well with strangers, and this includes kids. They are protective and will typically form strong bonds with your children. Bernedoodles have an easy-going temperament and will enjoy playing games with the kids or just cuddling up for a nap. It's a great breed for a family pet!
Training a Bernedoodle is a unique experience due to their intelligence and energy. It is important to remember that positive reinforcement and patience will create the best results. Start by establishing a consistent routine and rewarding desired behavior with treats, loving words or toys. Be sure to provide clear instructions for verbal or physical cues and address any mistakes calmly and without punishment. Start with basic commands such as sit, stay, come, leave it, etc. and slowly build up to more complicated directions.
