Bernedoodles are considered a designer, hybrid breed of dog that are a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. They are usually medium to large size pups with either a wavy or curly coat that has a low to non-shedding quality. Depending on the type of poodle hybridized, Bernedoodles can come in various sizes such as miniature, medium and standard.
Bernedoodles are considered to be a low-shedding breed; however, they do not fall into the category of "non-shedding". Bernedoodles will shed their coat once a year, generally in the spring. The amount of shedding a dog does depends on its coat type, and Bernedoodles can have either a wavy or a straight coat. The wavy type is slightly less prone to shedding. With regular brushing, life-style, and diet management, it is possible to keep the amount of Bernedoodle shedding low.
Primarily, Bernedoodles eat a diet that is considered to be nutritionally complete and balanced. This should include fortified dry dog kibble, specifically formulated for Bernedoodles with their unique dietary needs. It's important to provide a range of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and other nutrients. Additionally, Bernedoodles can enjoy healthy homemade and/or wet food meals, fresh and frozen vegetables/fruits, supplements, and treats that are formulated for their dietary requirements.
