A Bernedoodle is a hybrid dog breed made up of a combination of Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle. It is an intelligent, active, and loving breed of dog that can range in size from medium to standard. They are loyal, friendly, and make great family pets. Bernedoodles have a low to no-shedding coat which means they are optimal for those with pet allergies or who want to avoid cleaning up dog hair around their home. Bernedoodles can benefit from socialization and exercise such as daily walks and trips to the park.
Bernedoodles can vary in terms of shedding, depending on the coat type. Generally, Bernedoodles have either a loose curl, an Australian Labradoodle-style curl, or a wavy coat. Most of the wavy and curly Bernedoodles tend to have low shedding coats, making them a great option for those who want to keep the amount of hair in their home to a minimum. However, some Bernedoodles with that shaggy teddy-bear style coat will shed more than other coats because of the straighter fur.
To ensure that your Bernedoodle receives the proper nutrients and energy requirements, it is important to feed him a balanced diet formulated specifically for large breed puppies. Look for quality dry kibble that is suitable for Bernedoodles. Generally, choose one that is formulated for active breeds with the appropriate levels of protein, fats, and carbohydrates. Bernedoodles come in a variety of sizes including miniature, medium, and standard. The miniature Bernedoodle is considered to be between 14 and 17 inches in height when fully grown, with a weight of approximately 10 to 24 pounds. A medium Bernedoodle will grow up to around 18 to 22 inches tall, with a weight of between 25 and 49 pounds. Standard Bernedoodles have an average height between 23 and 29 inches, and a weight of 50 to 90 pounds.
Bernedoodles have moderate exercise needs and should get some daily exercise in order to stay healthy. These dogs need two to three daily walks, as well as some playtime or active activities such as Frisbee to satisfy their energy needs.
