Questions & Answers
Bernedoodles are a hybrid cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. They are intelligent, fun-loving, and loyal, making them a great addition to any family. Bernedoodles can come in three sizes: Standard (from 70-90 pounds); Mini (from 25-49 pounds); and Toy (from 10-24 pounds). They also come in several colors and color combinations. Bernedoodles are hypoallergenic and lowto non-shedding, making them ideal for people with allergies or sensitivities.
Bernedoodles typically have a medium-length coat. It is usually wavier or curlier than a standard poodle coat, and the fur can range from pretty straight to very dense and fluffy. The Bernedoodle coat is typically easy to groom and low-shedding, making it ideal for people with allergies. Bernedoodles may come in several colors, such as black, white, and tan. Their coats may also have contrasting markings that resemble those of a Bernese Mountain Dog.
Bernedoodles typically require a diet that is high in protein and low in carbohydrates, as this helps them maintain their energy levels and provides them with nutrients that they need. The best way to feed a Bernedoodle is to provide them with high-quality food specifically designed for large breed dogs. Some owners may opt to feed raw food, but kibble is generally the best way to ensure your Bernedoodle gets the nutrition they need. When feeding kibble, however, be sure to include supplements to ensure your pup's nutritional needs are met.
Before getting a Bernedoodle, you should ensure you have all the necessary essentials such as a leash and collar, food bowl, food, brush and nail clippers, high quality puppy food, a crate or kennel, and toys. You’ll also need to pick up some puppy pads incase your Bernedoodle needs to go potty when you are not ready to go outside. Having a flea collar and tick medication is also essential for your new pup. Additionally, you may want to purchase safe chew toys such as rubber chew bones and soft stuffed animals.
It's important to note that Bernedoodle puppies come in a variety of sizes as adults. In general, a Bernedoodle’s weight will range from 25 to 50 pounds depending on their diet and exercise regime, making them a great match for both apartment life and larger properties. Their height will range from 11 to 19 inches at the shoulder. As the Bernedoodle puppy grows, you'll need to pay close attention to their diet to ensure their growth is healthy. Many Bernedoodle owners report that their pets tend to grow faster and larger than expected.
It depends on your Bernedoodle's age and activity level. Generally, Bernedoodles are active and can enjoy running, as long as you're mindful of certain restrictions. Smaller breeds should not be taken for intense running before they are a year old, since their developing joints may not be able to handle the stress yet. For bigger Bernedoodles, two to three years is a good age to introduce them to running and long walks. Also, regardless of the age, check with your veterinarian to determine an appropriate activity level, since different individuals will have different limitations.
Bernedoodles are an excellent family pet, and many of them do great with kids. They're known for their affectionate and intelligent personalities and are generally gentle and patient with children. Bernedoodles are excellent playmates for kids and make great cuddle buddies too. As long as socialization and training are started early, Bernedoodles should form a strong bond with children and get along swimmingly with the entire family. Since they are energetic dogs, they will need to have their daily exercise needs fulfilled in order to remain calm and content.
There is no definitive answer as to how many minutes per day you need to train Bernedoodles, as it depends on the individual pup and the goals you have for them. As with all dogs, engaging in training and enrichment activities should be tailored to the pup's needs, temperament, age, and energy levels. If your Bernedoodle is younger and more energetic, you may need to engage in longer training sessions and more frequent breaks throughout the day.
