Bernedoodles are a unique designer breed created by crossing a Bernese Mountain Dog with a Poodle. These pups have become increasingly popular due to their outgoing, friendly, and intelligent personalities. They are known for being extremely loyal to their owners and make excellent family dogs. Bernedoodles are a hybrid breed, which means they require regular grooming and exercise to stay healthy. They tend to be stronger and a bit larger than traditional Poodles and Bernese Mountain Dogs, so it's important to provide them with enough room to run and play.
The Bernedoodle is characterized by a luxurious, silky coat which comes in a variety of colors, including black, white, caramel, light cream, red, silver, brindle, and sable. For the Bernedoodle breed, the most common coat texture is wavy; however, some Bernedoodle coats are curly. The Bernedoodle's coat can be straight, wavy, or curly depending on its parent breeds, Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle. The Bernedoodle coat requires maintenance, as it sheds very little but does require occasional brushing and grooming.
Bernedoodles have specific nutrition needs that you should meet to keep them healthy and happy. Generally, your Bernedoodle should be fed premium, high-quality pet food made specifically for large breeds. Their diet should contain plenty of protein and carbohydrates plus Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, necessary for overall health of the skin, coat, and organs. You should avoid grain-based dog food and replace with carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables. Additionally, adding meat, eggs, and cottage cheese to their diet will provide them with extra protein and nutrients.
Prior to bringing your new Bernedoodle home, there are several steps you can take to prepare your home.
