They are a hybrid of Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles and are known for their great size, devoted personalities, and endearing facial expressions. These friendly pooches are highly trainable, retain a puppy-like attitude all throughout their lives, and remain highly loyal to their family. Bernedoodles excel in attributes such as obedience, agility, and other canine activities, including retrieving and herding.
The Bernedoodle coat is typically a mix of the Bernese Mountain Dog's longer, heavier coat and the smooth, wavy Poodle coat, making each Bernedoodle's coat unique and special. Generally, Bernedoodle coats are often medium to high-shedding, and they may come in a variety of colors, from light to dark, and sometimes a mix of the two. The coat can range from straight and short to straighter and wavy to curly.
Finding the best dog food for a Bernedoodle can be a big challenge. Bernedoodles are a relatively new designer breed with specific nutritional needs that may require a more tailored diet. Generally speaking, a healthy, nutritious diet for a Bernedoodle should include lean proteins, healthy fats, fresh fruits and veggies, and quality carbohydrates.
Before you bring your new Bernedoodle home, there are some steps that you can take to prepare the house and make it a welcoming and safe environment for them. Begin by puppy-proofing the area, child safety locks are recommended for cabinets and drawers. Also, make sure to keep harmful items such as medicines and cleaning supplies well out of reach. Bernedoodles, a combination of Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles, are considered moderately active dogs. They typically need at least 60 minutes of activity per day to remain healthy and happy. This activity should include physical activities such as walks, jogs, hikes, and trips to the dog park, as well as mental stimulation. For mental stimulation, it's great to give Bernedoodles puzzle toys or play fetch with them. Along with physical activities, Bernedoodles should be trained to maintain good behaviors and should receive daily interaction with their family, friends, or other animals.
Bernedoodles are generally known to be an extremely loving and compassionate breed, and are known to be very patient and gentle with children of all ages. They don't have a tendency to be too energetic or boisterous, which can make them a great companion for kids as they're not too loud or overbearing. Bernedoodles adore being around family and their human companions, so they get along exceptionally well with children and families alike. They've been known to form strong emotional bonds, that can be especially important for kids as the Bernedoodle will always be by their side.
