Bernedoodles are a mixed breed of dog which are a combination of a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. It is a very popular breed that is known for its intelligence and for being a great family pet. They are well adjusted and often have an easy-going temperament. They can vary in size, but typically weigh between 25 and 50 pounds, and can range in height from 13 to 22 inches. This pup is likely to thrive in a family environment and is eager to learn new tricks.
Bernedoodles are a hybrid breed of a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, and they are known for being low-shedding. While it is true that all Bernedoodles do not shed in the same way, overall they are considered to be low-shedding and hypoallergenic. Bernedoodles can possess the coat type of either the Bernese Mountain Dog (non-shedding) or the Poodle (low shedding).
Bernedoodles, like all dogs, do have dietary needs. These primarily involve feeding them balanced, high-quality foods with all the nutrients they need to live healthy, active lives. That said, Bernedoodles do not have any special dietary requirements, separately from other breeds. In general, they require a diet with a combination of carbohydrates, proteins, and essential fatty acids. It is important to have variety in their diet and to avoid any foods with preservatives, additives, fillers, and/or dyes.
Preparing your home for a new Bernedoodle is no small task, but there are a few steps to take to ensure your pup's transition is smooth. To start, create a designated area for your Bernedoodle, complete with comfortable bedding, toys and any other special items you think your pup will enjoy. Depending on the age of your pup, it may be beneficial to puppy-proof your entire house by making sure all wires and cleaning supplies are not in reach.
Bernedoodles vary in size, depending on the generation, since they are a cross between Bernese Mountain Dogs and Standard Poodles. For example, an F1 Bernedoodle, which is a first generation cross between the two breeds, will have a larger size than a F2 Bernedoodle, which is a second generation cross. Generally, F1 Bernedoodles range in size from 65 90 lbs and 23 29 inches at the shoulder, making them medium to large dogs compared to many other breeds.
It's recommended that Bernedoodles get at least 30 minutes of physical activity per day, whether that is walking or a combination of walking, jogging, and/or playing. On average, a walk of around 10-15 minutes is sufficient for this breed; however, the amount of time spent walking your Bernedoodle will vary based on your pup's size and energy level. You can always adjust the amount of walking time according to how your pup reacts. Make sure to take regular breaks, and remember that safety is of utmost importance when walking your dog.
