Bernedoodles are a hybrid of a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, making them one of the most interesting and unique dog breeds. They make a great family dog, as they are friendly with children and other animals, and they are lowto non-shedding with a low-maintenance coat. Bernedoodles come in all kinds of colors and sizes, with both black and brown coats being the most popular.
The Bernedoodle coat has an abundance of variety. Depending on the type of Bernedoodle, the coat ranges from straight to curly, or anything in between. Many Bernedoodles sport a coat of dense curls, while others have long loosely wavy hair. This breed can come in various colors including shades of black, white, brown, apricot and gray. Moreover, the Bernedoodle coat may change with age, becoming softer and more silky as they progress into adulthood.
When it comes to a Bernedoodle's diet, it’s best to consult a veterinarian to determine the safest and most nutrient-rich meals for your pup. Research to gain a general understanding of the type of nutrients that Bernedoodles need. Avoid giving your Bernedoodle any human food. Many fruits and vegetables, dairy, and grains are all safe for your Bernedoodle, but some human meals are not, such as onions, garlic, grapes, and raisins.
Bernedoodles, like all breeds of dogs, do have specific needs to ensure they stay healthy and remain good canine citizens. Generally, Bernedoodles require brushing at least every other day and regular trimming to cut down on the heavy coat, and regular bathing to keep them looking their best. Bernedoodles should also be provided with plenty of regular exercise, a quality diet and good socialization in order to keep them happy and healthy.
Bernedoodles typically range from 25 pounds all the way up to 90 pounds, depending on their generation and parent breeds. Standard Bernedoodles are usually larger, getting as big as 70 pounds or more; the mini Bernedoodles usually top out around 30 pounds. Moreover, Bernedoodles are noted for their intelligence and loving personality, making them the perfect family pet or companion. On average they will stand 18-27” tall at the shoulder, however, this varies depending on the Bernedoodle’s parentage.
Bernedoodles are active, intelligent dogs and will need plenty of exercise to stay healthy and well behaved. This varies depending on the age and energy level of your Bernedoodle. Puppies may need up to two hours of exercise a day while adult Bernedoodles may be okay with around 1-2 hours of moderate exercise daily. This exercise should include a mix of physical activity and mental stimulation. A few ideas for this exercise could include walks, jogs, swimming, agility courses, playing Frisbee, and running around the yard.

The amount of time you need to dedicate to training your Bernedoodle will vary, but generally speaking, it is recommended to try and spend at least ten minutes per day. If your Bernedoodle is a puppy, you should aim for twenty to thirty minutes of training per day in short, frequent sessions. If your Bernedoodle is an adult, longer sessions that last for around thirty minutes can be sufficient. It is important to remember that training consists of both physical and mental exercises.
