As the product of both Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles, they offer the best of both breed personalities: the Bernese are gentle giants and the Poodles are energetic and intelligent. Bernedoodles can also come in different coat styles, ranging from wavy to curly and even straight-haired. Due to this, they can have a variety of colors and patterns, and are well-suited for any family.
Bernedoodles are often considered to be non-shedding, however this is not always the case. The likelihood of shedding depends on the particular bernedoodle's coat type and genetics. If the parent dogs are non-shedding, then the Bernedoodle offspring will likely not shed either. But even if the Bernedoodle's parent dogs are non-shedding, it is still possible for them to shed very lightly. The F1 and F1b Bernedoodle generations tend to be non-shedding, while F2 Bernedoodles may shed more.
Bernedoodles require a diet consisting of high-quality pet food that is specific to their size and age. The best way to know what not to feed your Bernedoodle is to consult with a veterinarian familiar with the breed. Some foods that may not be suitable for Bernedoodles include: processed food, foods high in fat and sugar, foods with artificial colors and flavors, raw or undercooked meats, and certain plant proteins such as beans.
